- Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - The mosque welcomes visitors from Saturday to Thursday, between 8:00 – 11:00 a.m., and remains closed on Fridays. Visitors can marvel at the world’s second-largest handmade carpet and the renowned chandelier in the main prayer hall. Opened in 2001, this magnificent marble mosque is among the largest in the Gulf, with a capacity for 20,000 worshipers. Constructed from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone, the main musalla or prayer hall is a square measuring 74.4 by 74.4 meters (244 by 244 feet), with a central dome reaching 50 meters (160 ft) above the floor.
Dress code: Visitors must dress modestly, covering their entire arms and legs, and avoid wearing tight clothing. Women and girls aged seven and above are required to cover their hair.
PLEASE NOTE: The mosque is closed every FRIDAY.

Khalid showed us Muscat’s highlights and secret spots - We had a really pleasant time in Muscat with our guide, Khalid AlRaqadi. He took us to all the highlights – the Grand Mosque, Muttrah Souq, the Fish Market, Al Alam Palace, Al Mirani and Al Jalali Fort, the Opera House, the National Museum, and the Al Bustan Hotel.
What made the day stand out was how thoughtful he was though as he went out of his way to take photos of my wife and me at different spots, making sure we had memories to take back with us. He also showed us a couple of hidden viewpoints overlooking the ocean that we wouldn’t have found on our own.
Khalid was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to spend the day with. He explained the history in a clear and engaging way, but also gave us space to explore and enjoy at our own pace. We never felt rushed, just well taken care of.
It was a great experience, and we’d happily recommend Khalid to anyone visiting Muscat.

Culture in a day - We've had a great day. Ahmed was a very friendly and attentive guide who enthusiastically talks about his beautiful country, their culture and faith.
Really a professional organization, also by the back office. Highly recommended!

Day tour of Oman - Fantastic all day tour with Hamood exploring Muscat. Very interesting and informative and he took us to a local restaurant for lunch.

Wonderful time in Oman! - Said Al kiyumi was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable! We had an incredible time visiting all the sites, especially the beautiful Mosque and the museum. Said also recommended a wonderful restaurant for lunch. It was a great experience.

A great Muscat experience. - Star Tours have been excellent. Their communications pre-arrival are just what you need - clear, prompt and courteous. The Transfer from Muscat Airport to our hotel was faultless despite our delayed flight. Our first day with our guide Amer has been really enjoyable with us gaining a great insight into Omani culture and life in this beautiful country. Highlights have been visits to the Grande Mosque, the Souk and a very relaxed lunch. We are looking forward to the rest of the trip. Thank you Star Tours.

Full day Muscat tour - Oman has a lot to offer! Rich in culture and beautiful city! Nasr was a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable. Pretty laid back tour, no pressure and got to spend more time in places, not always on a rush! That was good. A must do when in Muscat! Highly recommend Nasr!

We had a wonderful day... - We had a wonderful day with Saif exploring the beautiful city of Muscat. We not only learned about the history of Oman, but also how warm and welcoming the people are in the region. Definitely recommend visiting this wonderful country!
