A wonderful day from start to finish - We had a wonderful day trip to see the Snow Monkey. Including a lovely lunch en route fro Nagano to see the Monkeys. We had plenty of time in the morning visit to Zenkoji Temple followed by Saki tasting. Then off to see the Snow Monkeys with a stop for a traditional dinner, which was very good. The a lovely walk through the woods to see plenty of monkeys, with lots of time before returning back to Nagano. Our guide Takahide was excellent, he spoke very good English and was very attentive, making it all a wonderfull experience

Fantastic guide, great driver, and beautiful spot make for a perfect day - Our tour with Kunihiko was amazing. Without him we would have missed some details like Nijuroku-yashin appearing at the top of the castle and the fact that there is a volcano on the walk to Kamikochi. He was a wealth of knowledge that made it memorable trip. I highly recommend Snow Monkey Resorts/Tours and Kunihiko. On time, comfortable and fun. Thank you for a great visit.

One of the highlights of our Japan trip - This tour was one of the highlights of our Japan trip. From the moment we set off our host made sure we felt very welcome and got everything we needed. It all started with a visit to the temple of Zenko-ji, our host told us many insights about the temple, which we otherwise would have missed. This included some local food tips, which we tried out. The sake tasting was a personal highlight. Our guide knew all about the sakes and we ended up buying a bottle that we loved. The highlight of the tour was of course the Snow Monkey Forest. It was amazing to see the monkeys, to walk through the forest and to have some apple pie as a reward for the way back. I would like to also mention the amazing lunch and accommodating for a vegetarian lunch for my wife. Everything tasted amazing. Kieran, thanks again for an amazing tour - you truly made our Japan trip a success.

Overall wonderful experience - Fantastic experience! Overall amazing to be walking among these wonderful animals. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking, and the hike up was very nice with the trees shading the path. We got to see the feeding routine as well, which was an absolute delight. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience - Endo was so knowledgeable guide, learned a lot about Japan. Sake tasting was nothing like drink tastings in Europe - different kinds were coming more and more. And each Sake was different. Also included lunch was very generous. And of course - cute monkeys.

Great tour with super guide - Best group tour so far on my Japan trip! Kevin, the guide, was truly extraordinary - plenty of knowledge and willing to share, positive & upbeat ! Nice combo of “traditional” features ( visit to temple), exposure to nature (snow monkey tour), and “cultural” aspects (sake tasting with pertinent explanation, beautiful venue for lunch with great food).

Amazing tour! Loved seeing the monkeys, but it was all great! - What a great tour!! We originally booked it for the snow monkey park part specifically, but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole thing! Our guide, Kirin, was amazing! He's so knowledgeable about the area, about Zenkoji temple, and about Japan in general. He was from Australia originally but has lived in Japan for 28 years, so he speaks both English and Japanese very well. The tour of Zenkoji was fascinating. Kirin gave us lots of great information about the temple and its history, so we learned so much more than we would have just wandering through on our own. The sake tasting was fun; I learned that I'm not really a fan of sake, but I'm super glad we did it. Our guide also gave us a lot of wonderful information on the different types of sake and how they're made. Lunch was fantastic! Beautiful venue, amazing food, great presentation. I was actually surprised at how nice of a place the lunch was at; I wouldn't normally expect something so nice from a tour. And, of course, the monkey park was amazing and the highlight of the tour. There were monkeys all over the little park, hanging out and playing in and around their pool. They're wild, but the rangers feed them so that's why they like to come to the park. The park itself is very small, but that final set of stairs before you get there is LONG in addition to steep. We came in summer (July 2025), and the monkey park was pleasantly cooler than other areas (like Zenkoji). For whatever reason, there were very few tourists at the monkey park, so it was not very crowded (except with monkeys!). Babies are born in the spring, so we saw lots of little nearly-newborns clinging to their moms, which was fun and special. A couple monkeys were in the onsen, but most were lounging around, grooming each other, and some of the younger ones were playing. Overall, a very wonderful experience!!

Baby monkeys - The visit to the temple was very interesting, lunch was unexpectedly good but the real star of the trip were the monkeys. We went in July so there were baby monkeys everywhere. It far exceeded my expectations. Our guide Jens was excellent.
