Mt Kenya Bandas to Lake Ellis Campsite (3,600m) 3 hours, 9km, 700m ascent.
Lake Ellis to Minto’s Camp (4,200m) 4 hours, 12km, 600m ascent.
Minto’s to Point Lenana (4,985m) to Old Moses Camp.
Old Moses Mountain Camp - 11-12 hours, 785m ascent, 1,685m descent, 24km. The pre-dawn summit attempt begins at 3:00 AM, with a three-hour hike to Point Lenana (4,985m), the hiker’s summit, arriving in time to witness the African sunrise. Descend to Shipton Camp for breakfast. After breakfast, start a 5-hour descent via Mackinder’s Valley to Old Moses Camp (3,300m). The descent is gentle, allowing ample time to enjoy the captivating scenery, including the moorlands.
Old Moses Camp to Nairobi - 2 hours.
Nairobi - After an early morning breakfast, descend for 3 hours to the Sirimon Park gate to catch a vehicle for transfer back to Nairobi.

The awe-inspiring Chogoria Sirimon Route ascent up Mount Kenya, spread over 5 days, is the one we highly recommend. The 5-day trek up the Chogoria Sirimon Route is arguably the driest means of scaling the mountain. The journey along the Gorges Valley is nothing short of spectacular. The Mount Kenya National Park, through which the route winds, is at its best during the dry months of January, February, late August and September. October, too, is a good time for this hike.
Descending via the Sirimon route exposes you to beautiful forest paths and concludes your traverse of the mountain. The details of this 5-day climb up the Chogoria Sirimon Route are discussed herein. This route along with Chogoria forms the most picturesque climb up Mt. Kenya. The journey starts from the Northwestern side of Mt. Kenya and takes you through Liki North, Old Moses Camp, and Shipton’s Camp before culminating at Point Lenana at an altitude of 4985m.
