- Ndutu Lake - In the morning, regardless of your pick-up location, whether it’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or a hotel, a brief orientation will be provided before heading to the Ndutu Lake conservation area. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a convenient stop for a picnic lunch in the park. Located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, on the edge of the Southern Serengeti plains, Ndutu is a prime spot for observing predators and admiring the breathtaking landscapes. This area is a calving ground for migratory wildlife, particularly the wildebeest migration. The landscape features vast short grasslands, soda-lake Masek, marshes, and woodlands that support both resident and migratory animals. The game drive continues until late evening, followed by a return to accommodations at Kon Tiki Tented Camp.
- Ndutu Lake - On the second morning, after breakfast, embark on an early morning game drive in the reserve for the entire day. Morning is the most popular time for game viewing in Ndutu, as the cooler temperatures create a pleasant environment for both wildlife and visitors. While Ndutu offers excellent game viewing year-round, the best time to visit is from late December, when the Great Migration herds arrive from the north, until April, when millions of wildebeest, gazelles, and zebras begin their northward journey. During this period, the seasonal rains attract massive herds of wildebeest and zebra across the plains. Accommodations are at Kontiki Camp.
- Serengeti National Park - After a good morning, travel to the renowned Serengeti National Park. This park is to Tanzania what the Masai Mara National Reserve is to Kenya. The Central Serengeti, located at the heart of this magnificent national park, is the most popular area due to its abundant wildlife, numerous big cats, and iconic acacia-studded savanna landscapes. Resident wildlife makes this part of the Serengeti a fantastic year-round destination, but it truly shines from April to June and October to December, when the Great Migration herds pass through. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Accommodations are at Kon Tiki Africa Camp.
- Serengeti National Park - On the second day, return for a full-day game drive in the famous Serengeti National Park. Today’s drive includes exploring several rocky granite outcrops, known as kopjes, where lions and cheetahs can often be spotted. Notable kopje highlights include Simba Kopje, or Simba Rocks, which inspired Pride Rock in Disney’s The Lion King. Beyond its cinematic fame, this granite formation is an excellent spot to observe lions basking in the sun. The park is characterized by vast, open plains teeming with wildlife. A picnic lunch is provided en route, with the afternoon dedicated to game viewing and taking in the stunning scenery of the Serengeti’s nearly treeless plains. Accommodations are at Kon Tiki Serengeti Camps.
- Ngorongoro Conservation Area - On the fifth day, journey to the crater. Known as ‘Africa’s Garden of Eden,’ the Ngorongoro Crater boasts incredible beauty, diverse ecosystems, and abundant wildlife. This impressive 20 km wide volcanic crater with 600 m walls offers breathtaking views from the rim and a constant presence of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Olduvai Gorge is renowned for the discovery of 3.5-million-year-old fossil fragments of early human civilization. As the largest inactive and intact caldera in the world, this area is unique in many ways. A caldera is a volcanic feature formed by the eruption and collapse of a volcano into itself. Formed about two to three million years ago, the crater is over 610 meters deep and spans 260 square kilometers. Accommodations are at Rhino Lodge.
- Lake Manyara National Park - Set out for an early morning game drive in Lake Manyara. The park features an evergreen, jungle-like forest filled with monkeys enjoying the remarkable tall trees, with the sycamore fig tree being the most dominant. Other stunning species include the Baobabs found throughout the Rift Valley wall. The forest’s lushness is due to groundwater seeping from the extinct Ngorongoro Crater volcano. This underground life source can be directly experienced at the hot springs in the park’s south, where sulfurous water bubbles out, steaming hot to the touch. Accommodations are at the Heart & Soul.
- Arusha - In the morning, depending on your flight schedule, after breakfast, you will be driven back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your Zanzibar Island air transfer or return home. This marks the end of the trip!
