- Karura Forest - Begin your adventure in the forest by walking or cycling. The guide will introduce you to the diverse species of trees, birds, and the unique sights and sounds. Explore the waterfalls, caves, and the riparian area. There are plenty of walking trails with breathtaking scenery to enjoy. The trails range from five to fifteen kilometers. Additionally, the forest features a 12-kilometer biking trail. Both biking and walking trails take you through lush forests, waterfalls, caves, and streams. The trails are well-marked and color-coded according to their length. Numerous picnic benches are available throughout the park for relaxation. The reserve also boasts several points of interest, both historical and ecological. In the 1990s, the Central Bank used an incinerator on the property to destroy decommissioned currency, and the old chimney remains visible. The sacred caves served as hideouts for the Mau-Mau freedom fighters, and Lily Lake marks the location of an abandoned quarry.
