Hell’s Gate National Park - Start with a 7am pickup in Nairobi, then journey to Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National Park, pausing to enjoy views of the Great Rift Valley from a scenic overlook along the route.
Upon reaching the park around 9am, embark on a 2-hour guided bike/walking tour: admire the stunning rock formations and spot herds of Thompson’s gazelle, eland, zebra, giraffes, warthogs, and hartebeest as you ride. Keep an eye on the sky throughout the tour, as Hell’s Gate National Park hosts over 100 bird species, including Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzards, vultures, and swifts.
Proceed on foot into the park’s unique gorges, where narrow passageways and caves are carved into sedimentary rock. After a 1-hour walk, head to Lake Naivasha, then proceed to Naivasha Marina Camp for lunch (at your own expense).
Note: If biking is not an option, the park can be toured by vehicle, with the driver/guide gladly stopping for wildlife and scenery photos at no extra cost.
- Lake Naivasha - For an additional fee, explore Lake Naivasha’s wildlife on an optional 1-hour motorboat tour. Spot hippos lounging just beneath the water’s surface, and observe the diverse birdlife; African fish eagles, lesser flamingos, African spoonbills, and little grebes are commonly seen here. The boat ride extends to the shores of Crescent Island (part of the movie OUT OF AFRICA was filmed here).
At 4pm, begin the return journey to Nairobi, concluding the day with a drop-off in Nairobi at approximately 6pm.
