Exploration and excavation at Al-Shisr revealed an ancient archaeological city (believed to be the city of “Erm” mentioned in the Holy Quran, the land of the people of Hood). Continuous exploration of this important archaeological site began in 1990 by a group of archaeologists and was included in the World Heritage Organization for its significance.

Visitors can explore the port of Mirbat and walk along the old houses of Mirbat.
