If you’re in pursuit of witnessing welwitschias, proceed eastwards on the Welwitschia Drive until you reach the Lunar Landscape of eroded hills and valleys, sculpted by the Swakop River. Here, you might consider a short 12km round-trip north to the farm and oasis of Goanikontes, established in 1848. Nestled beside the Swakop River and surrounded by magnificent desert mountains, it makes for a picturesque picnic spot.
