Windhoek - Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei - Guests will be collected from their hotel or guest house between 7 am and 8 am, with departure set for 8:30 am, heading directly south to the renowned Sossusvlei via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass. A stop will be made at the viewpoint to admire the endless vistas of the Namib Desert. Lunch will be enjoyed at the Solitaire oasis. Arrival at the lodge or campsite is expected around 3-4 pm. As this time of day is particularly hot, it is recommended to relax by the pool. An early rest is advised as an early start is planned for the following morning.
Sossusvlei, Dune 45, Dead Vlei & Sesriem
Sossusvlei - At sunrise, the journey begins with a visit to the Sesriem Gate leading to the extraordinary Sossusvlei. The adventure starts with a climb up the picturesque Dune 45, offering breathtaking views of the orange-hued landscape. An off-road drive will take visitors to Dead Vlei, a vast desert pan where ancient, dried-up acacias stand silently in an impressive open-air gallery. For those with energy to spare, climbing one of the world’s highest dunes, ‘Big Daddy’ or ‘Big Mama,’ is an option. After the morning excursion, the group will return to Sesriem for lunch, followed by a 1-2 hour break. Once the heat diminishes, a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon will conclude the day’s activities.
Sossusvlei to Walvis Bay & Swakopmund
Swakopmund Jetty - Namibia is a land of contrasts. Today, the journey transitions from desert to sea. The route crosses the Tropic of Capricorn and traverses the Gaub and Kuiseb passes, descending to the dry riverbed at the base of the Kuiseb Canyon before ascending the other side, revealing the spectacular desert landscape. Upon reaching the coast, a stop in Walvis Bay will allow for viewing flamingos and other birds in the lagoons. A short lunch break will be taken. The night will be spent in Swakopmund, with dinner at a local restaurant at the client’s own expense.
Swakopmund-Cape Cross (Seal Colony)
Swakopmund Jetty - In the morning, an excursion to the seal colony at Cape Cross, north of Swakopmund, will offer the chance to observe thousands of fur seals up close. The remainder of the day is free for exploring the town. Swakopmund is a charming seaside town with numerous shops, a lovely beach (though the Atlantic is quite cold here), and an open-air curio market. There is also an excellent museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium. Alternatively, various optional activities can be arranged, including boat tours (with oysters and champagne), scenic flights, microlight flights over the desert, fishing trips (from the beach or by boat), quad-bike trips into the desert and over the sand dunes, sandboarding, skydiving, and more. The guide will discuss all possible optional activities and offer to make advance bookings.
Swakopmund to Etosha
Etosha Pan - Guests will be picked up from their hotel between 08:00 and 08:30. A long drive is ahead, with a stop in Usakos to refuel and gather provisions. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in Outjo. Arrival in Okaukuejo is expected in the afternoon. The group will drive through parts of the National Park in search of various wildlife. Accommodation will be reached just before sunset. Dinner will conclude the day’s adventure, and rest is necessary to ensure an early and refreshed start for the full-day game drive tomorrow.
Etosha National Park
Etosha Pan - An early rise will be followed by breakfast and the start of a full-day game drive in Etosha National Park. The early morning hours are ideal for exploring the waterholes. Visitors will see the Etosha pan (salt pan) before driving across the park in search of the “Big 5” and other wildlife species. A light lunch will be provided, allowing time to rest and recharge for the next adventure. After lunch and some relaxation, the last waterhole visit will offer a final appreciation of Namibia’s beauty. Before sunset, the group will return to the lodge for dinner, where stories and photos of the day’s experiences can be shared. After a night of storytelling and photo sharing, guests will retire for the night.
Etosha to Windhoek
Windhoek City Cab - Prepare for the scenic journey back to Windhoek. The route passes through towns and rural areas, with a stop in the small town of Okahandja, home to Namibia’s largest wood carving market. The stalls operate on a local cooperative basis, offering a wide array of authentic Namibian souvenirs. Arrival in Windhoek is expected in the afternoon, no later than 4:00 pm. Guests will be dropped off at their accommodation. For those returning to their respective countries, arrangements can be made with the guide for an early departure.
