This adventurous climb combines two of the most picturesque routes up Mount Kenya, Sirimon and Chogoria, creating an exceptionally varied and stunning trek. The Sirimon route, originating from the west of Mount Kenya, traverses the arid side of the mountain with its towering trees and rugged landscape, while the descent onto the Chogoria path offers a contrasting experience with its verdant bamboo and highland forests.
The final nighttime ascent to Point Lenana can be as challenging as any climb in East Africa, yet the remainder of the trek is generally considered easier than either Kilimanjaro or the Rwenzoris. This route also offers the best chance of encountering large wildlife.
Accommodation during this hike is provided in mountain huts. However, if camping is preferred, it is possible to camp on all nights on the mountain.
