• Naritasan Omote Sando - The tour begins with a leisurely walk along the Omotesando approach path leading to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. This long path is lined with numerous Japanese inns, restaurants, sake shops, and souvenir stores. The area thrived as a temple town during the Edo era.
• Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple - At the grand Main Gate of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, visitors are greeted by a large lantern and a pair of imposing Deva Kings. Within the temple grounds, there are beautifully carved structures such as the Three-storied Pagoda and the Pagoda of Peace, along with other halls. In the Main Hall, the Goma Ritual is performed daily by burning goma sticks.
• Great Pagoda of Peace - Standing at 58 meters tall, the Heiwa no Daito, or Great Peace Pagoda, symbolizes the Shingon sect of Buddhism. Inside, exhibitions detail the connection between the Kabuki family and this temple, as well as the temple’s history and treasures.
• Naritasan Park - Spanning 165,000 square meters, Naritasan Park features a large pond, waterfall, and fountain. Visitors can relax while enjoying seasonal flowers such as apricot, cherry trees, azaleas, and green foliage in spring, along with the vibrant colors of autumn leaves. The park also houses a calligraphy museum and a tea ceremony room.
• Naritasan Calligraphy Museum - Established in 1992, the Naritasan Museum of Calligraphy showcases an extensive collection of Japanese and Chinese calligraphy from ancient times to the present, with a focus on masterpieces from the Edo period to contemporary works. Japanese calligraphy is a traditional performing art, allowing viewers to perceive the artist’s personality through their brush strokes.

For those with a half-day layover at Narita Airport, this trip is perfect. At the main gate of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, visitors are greeted by eight distinct Buddha images and a beautifully colored three-story pagoda.
