They will also demonstrate their deep affection for their homestead, known as a Boma, which comprises round huts made of sticks, mud, and cow dung. Children will joyfully sing with their mothers, expressing their natural hospitality to visitors. Despite the current mandatory school attendance, some Masai children may be reluctant to attend due to strong cultural beliefs. These beliefs include the importance of cattle as a measure of wealth and the tradition of marrying at a young age, often when they have just entered their teenage years. As it is an optional activity, it is charged at an extra US$ 30.00 per person upon request.
LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK, SOPA LAKE NAKURU LODGE, PLAN IS FULL BOARD
Lake Nakuru National Park - On this day, guests will have breakfast at 07:00, then check out and proceed to Lake Naivasha, where they will tour the lake by motorized boat to see the resident aquatic animals like the hippopotamus, fish like the tilapia, and resident birds. Lake Nakuru National Park - Most of this day will be spent in the park, starting early in the morning with tea or coffee and a snack, followed by a game viewing drive from 06:30 to 08:00, returning to the camp for a full breakfast. This morning game viewing drive facilitates spotting nocturnal animals like the leopard, aardvark, porcupine, civet, mongoose, and many others, including all the resident animals. After some relaxation, another game viewing drive will take place from 10:00 until lunch at 13:00 in the lodge.
Giraffe Centre - Afterward, it will be time to return to Nairobi City, stopping at The Giraffe Centre in Langata. This wildlife conservation facility is dedicated to protecting the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, native to the grasslands of East Africa. It was founded in 1979 by Jock Leslie Melville and his wife Betty, who started a breeding program by capturing two baby giraffes on their property. The center aims to conserve the species through breeding and reintroduction efforts into Kenyan national parks and conservancies. In addition to giraffe conservation, the center serves as an environmental education hub, especially for Kenyan school children, teaching them about wildlife and environmental stewardship. Visitors can feed giraffes from an observation platform and explore a nature trail sanctuary with various bird species and smaller animals. The center also raises awareness and funds through visitor activities, donations, and a gift shop, supporting broader conservation initiatives.
