Mt. Fuji 5th Station - Mount Fuji boasts ten stations, with the fifth station situated at an elevation of 2,305 meters on the mountainside. This is the highest point accessible to non-climbing tourists, offering breathtaking views of the sea of clouds. Visitors can also send a postcard from the small post office here, featuring a unique Mt. Fuji postmark, making it a memorable experience. [In winter, the ice and snow of Mt. Fuji reach the first station, allowing access to the highest point officially permitted in Japan.]
Special notice: During Japan’s annual mountaineering season, the toll road to the fifth station is closed. Visitors must park in the designated lot at the mountain’s base and take a shuttle bus to the fifth station. The round-trip bus fare is 1,860 yen per person, payable by the visitor. - Arakurayama Sengen Park - This peace memorial park, featuring a shrine, offers a fantastic view of Mount Fuji. The Churei Pagoda, located at the mountain’s summit, honors soldiers and civilians who perished in World Wars I and II.
- Oshino Hakkai - Dubbed “Little Switzerland of Japan,” Oshino Hakkai in Yamanashi Prefecture’s Oshino Village is home to the Bagu Qingquan springs. The spring water originates from Mount Fuji’s snow, which melts, seeps into the ground, and is filtered through lava rocks for over 80 years before emerging in Oshino Hakkai. As a result, the water is exceptionally clear and mineral-rich.
- Chureito Pagoda - Situated in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Arakurayama Sengen Park is a prime location for viewing Mount Fuji. The park’s highlight is the Chureito Pagoda, a striking red five-story structure that beautifully contrasts with Mount Fuji and the ever-changing natural scenery.
- Lake Kawaguchiko - The reflection of Mount Fuji in Lake Kawaguchi, described as “the jade fan hanging upside down in the East China Sea and the sky,” is considered one of Mount Fuji’s wonders. Visitors can enjoy a cruise to admire the stunning mountain views or take the Mount Tenjo cable car for a panoramic view of Lake Kawaguchi.
- Oishi Park - Located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, Oishi Park provides breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and the lake. Its 350-meter walking path showcases seasonal blooms: pink moss phlox (April-May), lavender (June-July), and vibrant red autumn foliage (October).
