Ali is awesome! - We enjoyed our tour with Ali. The car was spacious and clean, and Ali was courteous and accommodating. Although Mt Fuji was being shy, and hiding behind clouds, Ali took us to some interesting sites.

Having an experienced private tour guide makes for an exceptional experience. - Jamil is wonderful! He helped us design the perfect day to Mt. Fuji & other highlights that we couldn't have done on our own. He reached out the night before to suggest a different time to start which saved us so much time not sitting in traffic. He shared knowledge of the different areas throughout the tour and made the ride very comfortable. We would absolutely do this again!

Shy Mt. Fuji - Jamil was a great guide. He took our family to all the best viewing spots. Too bad the weather prevented us from seeing all of Fuji, but we made the best of it. Thanks Jamil!!

The Best Guides in Japan - We have a large group of 11 as we planned a day trip to Hakone and Mt. Fuji. We were fortunate enough to have Hassan and Prince take great care of us. They were friendly, professional, and on time. Prince was an excellent tour guide. He knew so much of the history at all the stops we made. Hassan got us around town efficiently and where to park to get us close to all the best sightseeing spots. My family had a wonderful time. Thanks for making it so special. We will never forget this trip. Thank you so much. You guys are the best.

Unforgettable Mt Fuji Trip - Our day exploring the Mt. Fuji region with our guide, Mani, was nothing short of spectacular. Mani’s enthusiasm, deep knowledge, and warm personality made this adventure a highlight of our trip to Japan. Here’s a rundown of the incredible places we visited and why this experience was so unforgettable. Our journey kicked off with a thrilling speedboat ride on Lake Kawaguchiko. Mani arranged everything seamlessly, and the boat ride offered jaw-dropping views of Mt. Fuji’s majestic peak reflecting on the water. The adrenaline rush combined with the serene beauty of the lake was a perfect experience. Next, we headed to Oishi Park, a gem on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko. The park’s vibrant flower fields framed Mt. Fuji perfectly, creating postcard-worthy views. Mani knew the best angles for photos and even helped us capture some candid shots. The highlight here was the delicious ice cream from a local vendor. The creamy, lavender-infused soft serve was a refreshing treat, and Mani’s recommendation to try it was spot-on. He also shared insights about the local flora, making the stop both scenic and educational. We then visited Oshino Hakkai Village, a charming spot with eight crystal-clear water ponds fed by Mt. Fuji’s snowmelt. The ponds were mesmerizing, with fish gliding through the transparent waters and Mt. Fuji looming in the background. We spent time exploring the souvenir stores, where Mani guided us to authentic, locally made crafts. Our final stop was Lake Yamanakako, the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes. The peaceful atmosphere here was a perfect contrast to the earlier excitement. This Mt. Fuji adventure was a perfect blend of thrill, culture, and natural beauty, and Mani’s expertise elevated it to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’d recommend this tour to anyone visiting Japan—especially with Mani as your guide!

Lovely destination spots but not great trip. - Driver was not very accommodating to our needs. The stops along the route were lovely but the overall experience could have been better due to the dirty/smelly vehicle.

If I Could Give Zero Stars, I Would - I was going to skip writing a review, but after long consideration, and an incredible experience with a different company, I decided I needed to let you know not to book with this company. Our driver for the day was Mani. He reached out the night before and told me the pick up time was going to be 6:30 AM, since we were in Narita. Everyone was on time. It quickly went downhill from there. After driving away from the hotel with me, my 82 y/o mom who uses a wheelchair, and 3 adult family members, Mani demanded payment of an additional $200 USD because of the distance from Narita to Mt. Fuji. I explained that was not part of the tour listed on Trip Advisor and nobody reached out to me from the company prior notifying me of this. He continued demanding additional money and we went back and forth for 10 minutes. Finally, I’d had enough and told him he had two options. Return us to the hotel and refund the full tour price or take us on the 10-hour tour I had paid for. He decided to continue toward a destination. Then the second issue began. I explained this was our only day in Tokyo, on a stopover, and we needed to find things that my mom could enjoy while using a wheelchair. I explained we wanted to do things as a family together, including my mom. Mani told me the tour included one place. We could either go to Hakone, a traditional village, or Mt. Fuji. There wasn’t enough time to do both. We had to pick. And either way, we would run past 10 hours and would need to pay extra because fuel, tolls and his time were not free. Again, we went back and forth over money and paying for extra time. The energy in the car was tense. I was getting multiple messages from all my family members. They were mad and miserable. Finally I told him to drive us to Mt. Fuji so my mom could see it from the car and, once she saw it, he could take us back to the hotel. I began tracking our progress on Google Maps. At every interchange, Mani chose to take the option with the longest time to destination. He told us the 5th Station was the best option on a cloudy day and we could go hiking from there. Mani said it was hiking season and that would be something we would enjoy. - With an 82 year old woman in a wheelchair?!?!?!?!???? Are you kidding me???? We nearly arrived at the 5th Station to find out it was closed to private cars for hiking season. Note: Mani, the private tour guide for a Mt Fuji tour didn’t know this in advance. He told us to take a taxi or tour bus to the top (or we could hike if we would like to) and he’d be at the car when we were done. It was too cloudy to see the mountain from where we were, which wasn’t his fault. I said to just take us back. Mani said no to taking us back. Even though the tour was for only one place, he continued to lie, he was going to take us to a lake that had a speed boat, cruise ship, and a cable car. My mom said she wasn’t interested. I told him she would not get on a cruise ship. It would be too hard on her to be jostled getting into a boat. He kept insisting we would love the speed boat. I said she had a bad back, is hunched over and can barely walk. The LAST thing she needs is that. His suggestion was to leave her and we could enjoy it without her. We arrived. He parked. He pointed out where the speed boat and cruise tickets were and the cable car. He got back into the car to sleep. We tried to make it to the cable car, but both sidewalks narrowed too much for the wheelchair to pass and there was too much traffic to push her through the traffic lanes of the street. Plus, the two flights of stairs to reach the station and the steep hill were impossible to navigate. Back to the car with the annoyed Mani for his nap was cut short. Again, just take us back. Mani, “Why did you book a tour if you don’t want to do anything or see anything? There are still more stops scheduled on this tour.” *Remember, just a bit ago, he insisted it was a one-stop tour! *Reminder: this is a fully customizable 10-hour tour that was booked with a suggested itinerary. At this point it seemed like we were hostages and he was trying to run up the clock so it would run over 10 hours, he could get more money and a nap in the car. For the first 5 hours of the trip, Mani never went longer than 20 minutes without telling me I’d owe him for extra charges. If his service had been even passable, and we went over our time, I’d have no problem fairly compensating him for going over. Next stop was for ice cream that he insisted everyone loved, even though I said no because none of us eat ice cream. After that, a temple in a forest. Yes, it was beautiful. The gravel pathways meant we had to pull mom backwards in the wheelchair through the gravel to use the toilet and she had to stay at the gate because there was no ramp to get up the stairs. Mani went to get gas while we were there. When he returned, he parked on the far side of the lot. He walked over to meet us and excitedly asked how we liked it and if mom enjoyed it. I told him she sat in her wheelchair at the bottom because there weren’t any ramps while we waited for him. I then began to pull her backwards through the gravel lot toward the van. Mani told me to let him do it. I said no. He told me to “let him be a man” and tried to push her. Ultimately, he moved the van to where we were to load up. Again, just take us home. Nope! He insisted on taking us to an old traditional village. I don’t know what it was called. At that point, I couldn’t care less. I was miserable! Everyone was miserable! When we arrived at the village, he began to act like a passable tour guide. He took us into the village and the museum where there were less crowds. He told me not to worry if the tour ran long, there would not be an additional charge. He took a picture of my family together. We explored the grounds on our own and ate at the village. The village was the best part of the day. After that, we returned to the hotel. We ran a little over 12 hours in total for the day. My mom insisted on him getting a 10,000 JPY tip. She said she felt bad for him. Even at 54 years old, I am not going to argue with my mom when she has had a mostly miserable day, so I complied. Mani said he would only accept it if I was happy with his service. I’m more loyal to my mom than him. I told him to please take it, that we enjoyed the village. Technically not lies. My recommendation is to book another company. On our stopover on our return flight, we booked a tour with Asoko LLC and were so happy with the service! They are on Viator or contact them directly.
