Great historical place to visit - This was part of a day trip with my husband. I did not know the origin of the Ryman Auditorium prior to this visit. It was extremely interesting. I had no idea how many performers have been on that stage. I enjoyed getting a picture made on the stage. I would recommend this to anyone remotely interested in history of music or even Nashville

Must Stop Place for Music History Fans - This was a necessary to do for my mom and I also had a pleasant time. The self guided tour is perfect, so that you can look at things at your own pace. The auditorium consists of two floors, but most things are on the second floor. The first and only thing that you are specifically guided towards by staff is a video room on the second floor. The video shown is honestly, probably the COOLEST thing at the Ryman besides the actual building. The video uses camera magic to project silhouettes on walls, have a foreground where a recorded narrator walks across the screen while talking, the background images change, and two frames on each side of the main screen also change images as the video plays. The video goes over the history of the Ryman and it is definitely a must-watch. (My mom thought about sitting through the movie a second time because it was so cool.) The self-guided tour also has a few other videos along the walls of the Ryman like one of the first recordings of the Grand Ole Opry and the history of black musicians, singers, and audience goers with the Ryman. The Ryman also has a Rock n' Roll museum section too. Mostly, the Ryman has exhibits of music history such as Charlie Daniels' violin, an outfit of Aretha Franklin's, an outfit of Bon Jovi, etc. If your a fan of country music or rock n' roll music history I would definitely check the Ryman out. I think my mom and I were there for about an hour or two, but it was definitely worth the approximately $30ish bucks per person. Side Note (because I don't think it is advertise super well): There is a guy with a camera near the front of the stage on the first floor of the Ryman. I originally thought he was helping to set up for a show, because there are still some concerts/shows shown at Ryman, but he is actually there to take souvenir photos. Apparently, the self-guided tour comes with a free souvenir photo that this guy takes and then you pick up the free photo at the Ryman Gift shop. Its a good size physical photo too like a 6x8 photo. The Ryman gift shop also has a lot of cool merch like shirts, hats, records, etc.

historic beautiful former church-like structure now concert hall - We were only able to spend an hour here due to their sudden last minute schedule change. Upon doing research for our trip to Nashville and even later when purchasing self-guided tour advanced tickets about 10 days prior, we saw that they open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, so we planned to come here at 12:00 noon after another museum visit that morning but then for whatever reason that morning when I happened to look it up online, it said it had special hours that Thursday from only 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm due to closing for a special event. So, we had to pivot and do a different museum we had planned to do later earlier so we could arrive here at 3:00 pm. Of course it was super crowded with a large crowd gathering before 3:00 in front outside of the building and huge crowds inside making the entire experience feel rather claustrophobic. We also had only a limited time here because the free street parking outside was null and void after a certain time AND it was too difficult to really read anything with so many people, so we only got to spend about an hour here rather than soaking everything in.
