Goree Island - In the morning, enjoy a 20-minute ferry ride to Gorée Island. The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum and a lecture by the curator on the history of Gorée, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, return to Dakar for a city tour. Explore the vibrant markets, including Tilen Market, known for its variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Visit Dakar’s grand Mosque, the Presidential Palace, and the Artisans Market. Meals included: Breakfast. Overnight at Hotel Ndiambour.
DAKAR – PINK LAKE – ST LOUIS
Dakar - After breakfast, depart for Saint Louis, located in northern Senegal. On the way, tour Pink Lake, a rare natural wonder caused by a unique combination of microorganisms and high salt concentration, giving the lake its pink hue. Interact with the women harvesting salt and visit the Fulani village, where a warm welcome from the Chief may await. Continue to Saint Louis, Senegal’s former colonial capital. In the early evening, embark on a city tour of Saint Louis, exploring narrow streets lined with houses featuring carved wooden balconies and verandas, and visit the lively fishing village of Guet Ndar. Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary - After breakfast, visit the Djoudj National Bird Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s most significant bird sanctuaries. Located on a major palearctic migratory route, this park is a haven for bird lovers. Witness some of the world’s largest gatherings of white pelicans and flamingos, with up to 10,000 species present. Enjoy a pirogue ride for a closer view of the many species of cormorants, pelicans, ducks, flamingos, various songbirds, and more. Crocodiles, boas, boars, and other wildlife may also be spotted. Touba - After breakfast, drive to Sine Saloum, a region of stunning natural beauty. Stop along the way to visit Touba, the holy city of the Mouride brotherhood. DELTA SALOUM – JOAL FADIOUTH – MBOUR – SALY
Joal Fadiouth - After breakfast, head to Joal Fadiouth, stopping at the central market of Mbour along the way. Continue to Joal, renowned as the birthplace of Senegal’s first President, Leopold Senghor. Visit the fish market and observe the bustling daily activities. Explore the Senghor museum before proceeding to the traditional Serere village of Fadiouth, where you can see the cathedral, marketplace, sacred Baobab tree, and the famous cemetery where Muslims, Christians, and Animists are buried. Continue to Saly beach resort, with stops at small villages, arriving in time to enjoy the beach before nightfall. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Royam Saly.
SALY – BANDIA – SALY
Saly - This morning, travel to Bandia National Park for a safari. The Bandia Game Reserve spans 3,500 hectares and is home to numerous species native to Senegal, including buffalos, antelopes, impala gazelles, monkeys, tortoises, and crocodiles, as well as white rhinoceros, kudu, elands, cape moose, giraffes, ostriches, and zebras. Visit the crocodile pool, where animals come to drink and buffalos wallow in the mud. Numerous bird species, including small hornbills, grey herons, eagles, blackbirds, and kingfishers, can be seen. The Bandia wildlife reserve has successfully reintroduced much of the marvelous native flora and fauna unique to West Africa, which had gradually disappeared due to demographic pressure and poaching. Return to Saly Beach Resort in the early evening. Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner. Overnight at Royam Saly.
