Great half day adventure - Really enjoyed this morning trip on the lagoon seeing another side to Negombo. We were picked up from our hotel by tuk tuk, taken to the boat and returned by tuk tuk after the trip. The boat crew were excellent and looked after us well pointing out all the birds and sights throughout the trip and our stop for a picnic was something else! Beware your feet are going to get wet! Just a small point it was sad to see all the rubbish in the canal at the start and a shame something can't be done to clear this up.

Great lagoon trip - Tuktuk pickup from your hotel to the canal where you get on the boat and head to the lagoon. You have a lovely fruit picnic on a sandbank about halfway. Recommend hats and sunscreen as whilst you're shaded in the boat when you get out to walk and also have the picnic it can get really hot. We saw/fed monkeys, saw a monitor lizard, a number of eagles and lots of other birds, fish a crabs. Really worth doing, it's a great way to spend a few hours.

A great taste of what’s to come was to come on our Sri Lanka tour - The Negombo lagoon is a must see on arriving in Sri Lanka and a taste of what’s to come. This was a well put together and good value excursion, the timing of which depends on the tides of the lagoon as you get out and have a walk on the sand and amongst the mangroves. It was great to get a first taste of the wildlife, history and food that was to come on our tour of this amazing island. Our guide was really knowledgeable and looked after us well. Even the tuk tuk guys were great. Highly recommend.

The boat ride was so interesting with a trip to the harbors and the ocean along with the canals. I loved every moment of it!!! Definitely worth the time and money! I highly recommend. Cracking hours cruise. - Picked up slightly late from the Jetwing Beach hotel by a friendly tuk tuk driver for a 20 minute journey where I was transferred to a boat with a cover but open sides - ideal. The lagoon was lovely and we passed old fishing boats, some damaged by tbe Tsunami. Beautiful stop to sit ankle deep on a chair in warm water and enjoy a huge fruit selection. Then to monkey island where monkeys come on to the boat and finish the fruit! Tuk tuk back - about 2h in all. A lovely way to spend an hour, excellent easy going guides and a thoroughly recommended tour.

90 minutes boat ride - The boat ride was good and was what I was expecting, except the ride in tbe canal. Canal is narrow and sides are not very clean. Our boat fellow didn't go too far only 3quarters of the way to the first bridge. Two boats crossing each other is very bumpy as the canal is very barrow and boats moored on both sides. Boat guys don't mind bumping into each other. Ride in the actual lagoon is pretty good, variety of birds can be seen. We opted out of the food option so our trip was 90 minutes. Boatman had brought bananas, biscuits to feed the monkeys that live in the marshes. That was fun to watch monkeys at close quarters until they came too close, that was scary. Got to keep a tight hold on all your belongings. Overall very good. I think late afternoon is a good time when it is bit cooler. I am not sure what the fair price is for this ride but it seems that 6000 lankan rupees was the going rate for a 90 minute tide.

Terrific lagoon boat ride. - Great experience! Terrific guide who explained things along the way, morning tea was plentiful and saw a great deal of wildlife most of which spotted by the guide or boat operator such as snakes, monkeys, and lizards.
