Temples and Drive to Sigiriya

Golden Temple of Dambulla - Today, we journey to the heart of Sri Lanka to explore its rich history and culture. Our first destination is the Dambulla Cave Temple, intricately carved into the rock face. Following this, we visit the Golden Buddha, a magnificent statue perched on a hilltop overlooking the town. In the evening, we will settle into our accommodation with stunning views of Sigiriya Rock, which we will climb the next morning.

Climb Sigiriya Rock & Visit Village (Village Food Taste)

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - We start early today to ascend one of Sri Lanka’s iconic landmarks - Lion Rock (locally known as Sigiriya Rock). This UNESCO World Heritage site, a towering rock formation nearly 700ft high, offers breathtaking views from the top and is well worth the climb. Afterward, we return to our hotel for breakfast before exploring the town in the afternoon. In the evening, we visit a local farming village for an authentic Sri Lankan meal around a bonfire, prepared by the villagers.

Temple of the Tooth / Herbal Gardens & Kandy View Point

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Today, we travel to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth, located in the royal palace complex. Historically, the relic has been significant in local politics, as it is believed that whoever possesses the relic governs the country. We will learn about this fascinating history before enjoying a stunning sunset over Kandy Lake from our hotel on the mountainside.

Tea Plantation, Cooking Class & Train Journey

Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden - We pass through the picturesque town of Nuwara Eliya and spend the morning at a local tea plantation, learning about the tea brewing process from leaf to cup. We then visit a family-run cooking school to learn how to prepare some of Sri Lanka’s finest dishes. Next, we embark on ‘the most scenic train journey’ from Nuwara Eliya to the laid-back town of Ella, where the breathtaking scenery includes waterfalls, wildlife, and friendly locals.

Little Adams Peak & Nine Arch Bridge

Ella - We start early to climb Little Adams Peak for a spectacular view of Ella Gap, a gorge filled with beautiful waterfalls and stunning landscapes. After lunch in Ella town, we visit Nine Arch Bridge, where we walk the tracks and watch the train pass through.

Waterfalls & Glamping

Rawana Falls - In the morning, we visit a waterfall for a refreshing swim before heading to Udawalawe National Park. Here, we check into our glamping tents for the evening, with plenty of activities to enjoy.

Safari

Udawalawe National Park Safari - As the sun rises, we embark on a safari in our jeeps to observe the local wildlife, including elephants, monkeys, buffalos, and flamingos. We enjoy breakfast by the river before heading to our final destination, the beachside town of Unawatuna.

Jungle Beach Day

Jungle Beach - Today is all about relaxation. Wake up at your leisure, unwind by the pool, and join us for a walk through the jungle to the beach on the other side. We return to the hotel to freshen up before our farewell dinner.
