Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is a renowned world heritage site. Chosen by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) as his new capital, he constructed his palace atop this rock and adorned its sides with vibrant frescoes. These paintings bear a striking resemblance to those in India’s Ajanta caves. The mirror wall features verses from as early as the 8th century, penned by various visitors on topics like love, irony, and diverse experiences.

Minneriya National Park - Located in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Minneriya National Park was designated a national park on August 12, 1997, after being declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. The park was established to protect the Minneriya tank’s catchment area and surrounding wildlife. The tank, built by King Mahasen in the third century AD, holds historical significance.
Pidurangala Rock - Pidurangala is a vast rock formation situated a few kilometers north of Sigiriya. Its history is closely linked to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Although less grand and more challenging to climb, it is often overlooked by tourists. Like Sigiriya, Pidurangala was formed by volcanic activity. Despite appearing larger, its steeply sloped surface made it unsuitable for large-scale construction. The surrounding rocky outcrops hint at what the area around Sigiriya might have looked like before its transformation into a royal citadel.
SIGIRIYA – DAMBULLA - KANDY
Oak-Ray Isiwara Ayurvedic Village - Renowned for its spices, Sri Lanka’s spice gardens offer unforgettable visits to various plantations. A spice council was established to promote and enhance spice cultivation and gardens in Sri Lanka, involving key industry stakeholders from both the private and public sectors. Historically, Sri Lanka, known as Taprobane, was famous for its high-quality spices, maintaining trade links with the Greeks, Romans, and Arabs.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Sri Dalada Maligawa, or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Situated in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, it houses the Buddha’s tooth relic. Historically, the relic has been significant in local politics, as it is believed that whoever possesses it holds the country’s governance. Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lankan kings, is a World Heritage Site primarily due to the temple.
Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show - Sri Lanka, rich in culture and tradition, offers a vibrant and unique display of traditional dances through the Kandy cultural show. The highlight is the fire-walking segment, where performers walk barefoot across a specially prepared fire pit covered with red-hot charcoal, emerging unharmed.
Golden Temple of Dambulla - The Dambulla Golden Temple, or Rock Temple of Dambulla, is located about 47 miles northwest of Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhalese kings, on the main road to Anuradhapura. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, with the rock towering 160 meters over the plains. The area boasts over 80 documented caves, with major attractions spread across five caves containing statues and paintings.
KANDY – KITULGALA - BENTOTA
Royal Botanical Gardens - As Sri Lanka’s largest garden, the elegant and expansive 147-acre Peradeniya Gardens requires ample time to explore its impressive Avenue of Royal Palms. Home to around 4,000 plant species, the gardens feature approximately 10,000 mature, towering trees, many of which are tropical timber trees. The gardens showcase Sri Lanka’s flora and representative species from around the tropical world.
Geragama Tea Factory - As one of the world’s top tea producers, Sri Lanka offers tours of tea estates like the Geragama Tea Factory, where visitors can observe the tea processing with machines and purchase tea on-site. The estate spans many hectares, appearing boundless from one end. Visitors can explore the estates, witness the tea manufacturing process from leaf plucking to final product, and buy freshly packaged tea in various variants.

BENTOTA – GALLE - BENTOTA
Galle Fort - Situated on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, the Bay of Galle was initially built by the Portuguese in 1588 and extensively fortified by the Dutch from 1649 onwards. Galle’s historical significance dates back to Ptolemy’s world map of 125–150 AD, when it was a bustling port trading with Greece, Arab countries, China, and others. It is mentioned as a “port of call of the Levant” in the cosmography of Cosmas Indicopleustes.
Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - Embark on a magical speed-boat ride along the stunning Madu River, a wetland estuary covering over 900 hectares, with 770 hectares of water and 64 islands. The boat ride offers a closer look at this complex wetland ecosystem, a world heritage site protected by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, and one of Sri Lanka’s last pristine mangrove forests.
Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project - The Turtle Care Centre at Kosgoda Beach is one of 18 turtle hatcheries along Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Established in 1981, the center is popular as all five turtle species that visit Sri Lanka nest in Kosgoda, unlike many other hatcheries on the island that host only some species.
BENTOTA - COLOMBO - AIRPORT
Arcade Independence Square - This monument marks the site of the formal ceremony for the start of self-rule, with the opening of the first parliament by HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, on February 4, 1948. At the monument’s head stands the statue of the country’s first prime minister, Rt. Hon. Don Stephen Senanayake, “The Father of the Nation.” Most annual National Independence Day celebrations are held here.
Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall - Located in Colombo, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall is a convention center built between 1970 and 1973. It was a gift from the People’s Republic of China in memory of Prime Minister Solomon Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike.
Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - Gangaramaya Temple is a significant temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka, blending modern architecture with cultural essence. The temple is known for housing a young elephant, Ganga, who is chained at the back, unable to walk, lacks elephant companionship, and has been seen crying by tourists.
