Red Fort - This historic monument in Delhi is named for the red sandstone used in its construction by the Mughals. Originally a ceremonial site for royals, it continues to host political and national ceremonies. Built in 1639 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahanabad, the Red Fort is known for its massive red sandstone walls and is adjacent to the older Salimgarh Fort, constructed by Islam Shah Suri in 1546 AD. The imperial apartments feature a series of pavilions connected by a water channel called the Stream of Paradise.

Chandni Chowk - Chandni Chowk, or Moonlight Square, is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi, India, located near the Old Delhi Railway Station. The Red Fort is situated within the market. Built in the 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and designed by his daughter Jahanara, the market was once divided by canals (now closed) to reflect moonlight and remains one of India’s largest wholesale markets. Its history dates back to the founding of Shahjahanabad when Emperor Shah Jahan established the Red Fort beside his new capital on the Yamuna River. Chandni Chowk is also famous for its culinary delights, including Babu Ram Paranthe Wala, Old Famous Jalebi Wala, Kuremal Ki Kulfi, Natraj Dahi Bhalla, and many more.

Humayun’s Tomb - This magnificent garden tomb is the first significant example of Mughal architecture in India. Built in 1565 A.D., nine years after Humayun’s death, by his senior widow Bega Begam, the tomb features garden squares (chaharbagh) with pathways and water channels, a centrally located well-proportioned mausoleum topped by a double dome. Several graves of Mughal rulers are located within the walled enclosure, and in 1857 A.D., Lieutenant Hudson captured the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah II here.

Rashtrapati Bhavan - Home to the President of the world’s largest democracy, Rashtrapati Bhavan symbolizes India’s strength, democratic traditions, and secular character. Designed by Sir Lutyens, the H-shaped building covers 5 acres on a 330-acre estate. The mansion has 340 rooms spread over four floors, 2.5 kilometers of corridors, and 190 acres of garden area. Thousands of laborers, including masons, carpenters, artists, carvers, and cutters, completed this masterpiece in 1929.

India Gate - Opposite Rashtrapati Bhavan, at the center of New Delhi, stands the 42-meter-high India Gate, an “Arc-de-Triomphe”-like archway at a crossroads. Similar to its French counterpart, it commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. The memorial bears the names of more than 13,516 British and Indian soldiers killed on the North Western Frontier in the Afghan War of 1919.

Qutub Minar - A towering 73-meter-high victory tower, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi’s last Hindu kingdom. The tower has five distinct stories, each marked by a projecting balcony, tapering from a 15-meter diameter at the base to just 2.5 meters at the top. The first three stories are made of red sandstone; the fourth and fifth stories are of marble and sandstone. At the foot of the tower is the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the first mosque built in India. An inscription over its eastern gate provocatively states that it was built with material obtained from demolishing ‘27 Hindu temples’. A 7-meter-high iron pillar stands in the mosque’s courtyard. It is said that if you can encircle it with your hands while standing with your back to it, your wish will be fulfilled.

New Delhi - Rishikesh (By Road)

Rishikesh - After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Rishikesh. Upon arrival, check in at the Ashram. After check-in, relax for a while. Later in the evening, proceed to Haridwar. Haridwar, the city of the holy Ganges, lies at the foothills of the Himalayas, where the legendary Ganges reaches the plains. Experience the evening ceremony at the famous bank of the Holy River Ganges ‘Har Ki Paudi’. Later, visit the local market and temples of Haridwar. Return to Rishikesh and stay at the Ashram.

In Rishikesh (Rishikesh Walking Tour)

Lakshman Jhula Bridge - Enjoy a morning breakfast and relax at the Ashram. Visit the nearby beach at the Ashram and enjoy the tranquility on the banks of the River Ganges. Later, visit Rishikesh Laxman Jhula, temples, and Ashram, then walk down to the colorful market of Rishikesh and attend the evening Ganga Aarti Ceremony. Observing Indian rituals is an amazing experience. Overnight stay at the same Ashram in the upper part of Rishikesh, nestled in the hills.

Rishikesh - Shimla (By Road)

Shimla - After an early breakfast, check out from the Ashram and drive towards Shimla, also known as the Queen of Hills. The popular summer capital during British times is now the proud capital city of Himachal Pradesh. The drive is long but rewarding, passing through major towns of North India. Arrive in Shimla in the evening and check in at the resort.

In Shimla (Colonial Walk of Shimla)

The Mall - To learn more about Shimla and its beautifully crafted past, take a heritage walk in the old town. Experience the British era and hear the oldest stories from your guide. Discover why Shimla was once the summer capital of the British. Along the way, visit the Gaiety Theater (if open), church, ridge, The Mall, Indian Institute of Advanced Study (closed on Monday), and Vice Regal Lodge. This walk is amazing in many ways. Later, enjoy lunch at a nice local restaurant. In the afternoon, hike to Jakhu Hill, where you will see a large statue of the Hindu God Hanuman.

Shimla - Dharamshala (By Road)

Dharamsala - After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive towards Dharamshala. It’s a six-hour scenic drive (236 km) to reach the home of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in Dharamshala. As you cross the region and descend into the Himalayan region of Dhauladhar, you’ll see the Himalayan peaks gazing in the skyline. It’s amazing to see the Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalayas guarding the Kangra Valley. Upon arrival in Dharamshala, a major town in Kangra Valley, you will be transferred to the designated hotel.

In Dharamshala (Kora walk, Tea garden walk, Dalai Lama Temple Visit)

Dharamsala - After breakfast, proceed for a guided tour of Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. Your guide will take you on a sacred Kora walk, a clockwise walk starting from the Dalai Lama’s official residence in Mcleodganj. The walk goes through beautiful pine forests adorned with five-colored Tibetan prayer flags. After the sacred Kora walk and learning about Buddhism, visit the impressive monasteries in Mcleodganj and the Tibetan government in exile (their official building, parliament house – from outside) to learn about their struggle for the “Free Tibet” campaign. You’ll be amazed to see how a government operates outside its homeland. Our guide will brief you on their official establishment and how it functions.

Excursion to Palampur from Dharamshala (Sherbaling Monastery, Dungyu Gatsal Nunnery & Toy Train Ride)

Kangra Valley - After breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Palampur and nearby areas. Visit Sherbaling Monastery (around 2 hours from Dharamshala). Also, visit a beautiful nunnery and enjoy a short ride on the Toy Train of Kangra Valley from one station to another small station at the foothills of the Dhauladhar Mountains in the Kangra Region. Return to Dharamshala in the evening after experiencing the beauty of the Himalayas.

Dharamshala - Amritsar (By Road)

Amritsar - After an early breakfast, drive down to the northern plains of India, heading towards Amritsar. Upon arrival in Amritsar, check in at the hotel. Later, proceed to visit the Indo-Pak border closing ceremony. Overnight at the same hotel in Amritsar.

Amritsar Sightseeing - Delhi by train

Golden Temple - After breakfast, check out from the hotel at the designated time and explore the historical town of Amritsar. Visit the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, and take a walk through the colorful local market downtown. Later, at 1650 Hrs, board a train back to Delhi, arriving at Delhi station by 2315 Hrs. Meet the representative at Delhi railway station and transfer to a pre-booked hotel.
