Taj Mahal - At 6am, start your day with a sunrise visit to the monumental heritage of the Great Mughals. Explore the magnificent Taj Mahal (Closed on Fridays), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This extravagant expression of love was built by 20,000 men over 17 years as a memorial to Shah Jahan’s beloved wife. It is a masterpiece of white marble and semi-precious stones, undoubtedly the highlight of the tour.
Agra Fort - After breakfast, tour the impressive Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This powerful red sandstone fortress encloses the imperial city of the Mughal rulers within its 2.5-km-long walls. It includes many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls like the Diwan-i-Khas; and two beautiful mosques.
Agra - Following the city tour, enjoy a 4-hour drive to the historic walled city of Jaipur, founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II. This pink city is meticulously designed according to the Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu architectural treatise. The palaces and forts, once witnesses to royal processions and splendors, now stand as living monuments.
Fatehpur Sikri - On the way, stop to visit Fatehpur Sikri, often described as “the world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town.” Built by Akbar in the late 16th century, it was abandoned after only 14 years, yet the elegant buildings of this superb walled city remain intact.
