Lodi Gardens are among the most delightful green areas in Delhi, featuring labeled trees to help international visitors become acquainted with Indian flora. This site served as a burial ground for Delhi’s pre-Mughal Sayyid and Lodi rulers. Mohammad Shar’s tomb (1450) is considered a precursor to the architecture of Humayun’s tomb, while Sikander Lodi’s tomb (1571) is enclosed within walls and closely related to Humayun’s tomb garden. The domed mausoleums appear to have been placed in an open landscape, similar to how the Ancient Greeks positioned temples.
- Safdarjung’s Tomb - Known as ‘Safdarjung Ka Maqbara,’ this garden tomb in New Delhi, India, is constructed from marble and sandstone. Built in the late 18th century, it serves as the mausoleum for Safdarjung, a statesman who was the Wazir ul-Hindustan (Prime Minister of India) during Ahmad Shah Bahadur’s reign. Erected by Safdarjung’s son, Nawab Shujaud Daula, it is the last grand garden tomb showcasing Mughal architectural style. Situated at the intersection of Safdarjung Road and Aurobindo Marg in New Delhi, near Safdarjung Airport, this historic monument is a favored tourist destination for both Indian and international visitors to India’s capital.
- Mehrauli Archaeological Park - We will then proceed to the ruins of the “Mehrauli Archaeological Park.” This tour will unveil Delhi’s intriguing historical layers, exploring centuries of the capital’s past and uncovering the stories behind its ancient monuments.
Afterward, transportation will be provided back to your hotel.
