The temple complex, recognized by the Guinness World Record as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple, was inaugurated on November 6, 2005. The stunning mandir, built without steel, features 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangle shikars, a spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants), and 20,000 murtis and statues of India’s great sadhus, devotees, acharyas, and divine personalities. The mandir is a blend of pink stone and pure white marble, where pink stone symbolizes bhakti in eternal bloom and white marble represents absolute purity and eternal peace.
• Lotus Temple - Next, visit the Lotus Temple, a Bahá’í House of Worship dedicated to the oneness of humanity and religion. It symbolizes the unity of mankind across all faiths. The temple is admired for its universal design in the form of a lotus flower and is inspired by the Teachings of the Bahá’í Faith, especially its principles of the Oneness of God, the Oneness of Religions, and the Oneness of Mankind.
• Gurudwara Bangla Sahib - Next, visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh Temple located in the heart of the Capital City. It is one of the most important and sacred Sikh shrines, visited by thousands of followers and tourists from around the world. The temple is recognizable by its golden dome and tall flagpole. The grounds include the Gurudwara, a kitchen, a large (holy) pond, a school, and an art gallery. As with all Sikh Gurudwaras, the concept of Langar (Community Kitchen) is practiced, and all people, regardless of race or religion, may eat in the Gurdwara kitchen (langar hall). The food is prepared by gursikhs who work there and also by volunteers who like to help out. At the Gurdwara, visitors are requested to cover their heads and not to wear shoes. Anyone can volunteer in the Gurudwara.
• Birla Mandir Temple (Lakshmi Narayan) - Finally, visit The Laxminarayan Temple (also known as Birla Temple), a Hindu temple dedicated to Laxminarayan. Laxminarayan usually refers to Vishnu, the Preserver in the Trimurti, also known as Narayan when he is with his consort Lakshmi. The temple was constructed by industrialist Raja Baldev Birla and was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1939, with the condition that the temple would not be restricted to Hindus but would be open to people from every caste, creed, and country.
