Taj Mahal tour with Azhar - We had a wonderful 2 day tour visiting the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal. He was very knowledgeable, kind and patient with my family. Would highly recommend!

TajMahal Tour - Great experience, the guide uses a very simple to understand English. Nice and helpful. And understood very well that we did not want to go to tourist catching shops...

Mixed feelings - On the positive side Azhar picked us up on time in a nice car and gave us the basic information about the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. His English is good, so he is easy to understand. The areas for improvement included the following: 1. When he picked us up, my wife told him we were just waiting for her husband (me) to come down from the room. He then said, “you mean you are waiting for your king”. She took this as quite a sexist comment, which he repeated again in front of myself. I also cringed when I heard him say that. 2. He was not a good listener. On a number of occasions, he took phone calls when we were in the middle of conversations with him and simply cut us off. Neither of us felt he was very interested in us as people. His guided information was very basic and felt like the bare minimum. 3. He directed us to several tourist traps. 4. My wife had asked specifically that tickets be purchased in advance so that we did not have to wait in a big lineup. When the time came to go into the Taj Azhar told us that we needed to pay 600 extra rupees to grease someone’s palm. (My words but that was the implication). When she pointed out that this was not our deal, he backed off immediately. In fairness, he then muscled us through the line quite quickly. 5. He suggested we go to lunch at a local buffet and then told us it would be the equivalent of C$45 each, which is pretty outrageous for Agra. He also suggested that we should all have beers at lunch, which we found inappropriate. 6. When he dropped us off, he said “ how many stars are you going to give me?” and then insisted that I do the review of his services in front of him while he hovered over me. We both found it intimidating and inappropriate. All I all we would not recommend Azhar, nor would we use him again ourselves.
