India Gate - India Gate is a war memorial. It was part of the work of the Imperial War Graves Commission, established in December 1918 under British rule to build war graves and memorials for soldiers who died in the First World War. The foundation stone of the gate, then called the All India War Memorial, was laid on 10 February 1921.
Humayun’s Tomb - Humayun’s Tomb is the resting place of Humayun in Delhi, India. Commissioned by Humayun’s first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum, in 1558, it was designed by Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent and the first structure to use red sandstone on such a scale. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. The complex includes the main tomb of Emperor Humayun, which houses the graves of Empress Bega Begum, Hajji Begum, Dara Shikoh (great-great-grandson of Humayun and son of Emperor Shah Jahan), and numerous other Mughals.
Lotus Temple - The Lotus Temple, located in New Delhi, India, is a Baháʼí House of Worship dedicated in December 1986. Known for its lotus-like shape, it has become a prominent attraction in the city. Like all Bahá’í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification. The architect of the Lotus Temple was Iranian, Fariborz Sahba.
Red Fort - The Red Fort is a historic fort in the Old Delhi neighborhood of Delhi, India, which served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors. Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned its construction on 12 May 1638 when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi. Originally red and white, its design is credited to architect Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who also constructed the Taj Mahal. The fort represents the peak of Mughal architecture under Shah Jahan, combining Persianate palace architecture with Indian traditions. The fort was plundered of its artwork and jewels during Nader Shah’s invasion of the Mughal Empire in 1739. Most of the fort’s marble structures were demolished by the British following the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The fort’s defensive walls remained largely undamaged, and the fortress was subsequently used as a garrison. The Red Fort was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 as part of the Red Fort Complex.
Qutub Minar - The Qutub Minar is a victory tower and a UNESCO World Heritage Site built between 1199 and 1220.
Raj Ghat - Raj Ghat is a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi, India. Originally, it was the name of a historic ghat in Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad). Close to it, and east of Daryaganj, was the Raj Ghat Gate of the walled city, opening at Raj Ghat to the west bank of the Yamuna River. Later, the memorial area was also called Raj Ghat. It is a black marble platform that marks the spot of Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation (Antyeshti) on 31 January 1948, a day after his assassination. It is left open to the sky, with an eternal flame burning at one end. Located on Delhi’s Ring Road.
Friday Mosque (Jama Masjid) - Jama Masjid of Delhi is one of the largest mosques in India. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656 at the highest point of Shahjahanabad. The mosque was designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who died in 1649 before its construction started. It was completed by the architect Ustad Khalil and constructed by approximately 5000 workers. The workforce was diverse, consisting of Indians, Arabs, Persians, Turks, and Europeans.
Rashtrapati Bhavan - Home to the President of India, the world’s largest democracy. Rashtrapati Bhavan was created by architects of exceptional imagination and skill, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker. Sir Lutyens conceptualized the H-shaped building, covering an area of 5 acres on a 330-acre estate.

Taj Mahal - The Taj Mahal, a symbol of love, was commissioned in 1631 by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. The tomb is the centerpiece of a 17-hectare (42-acre) complex, which includes a mosque and a guest house, set in formal gardens bounded on three sides by a crenellated wall. The construction project employed some 20,000 artisans under the guidance of a board of architects led by Ustad Ahmad Lahori, the emperor’s court architect. The Taj Mahal was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.” It is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India’s rich history. The Taj Mahal attracts 7-8 million visitors a year and was declared a winner of the New 7 Wonders of the World (2000–2007) initiative in 2007.
Agra Fort - The Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra, also known as Agra’s Red Fort. Mughal emperor Humayun was crowned at this fort. It was later renovated by the Mughal emperor Akbar from 1565, and the present-day structure was completed in 1573. It served as the main residence of the rulers of the Mughal dynasty until 1638 when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. It was also known as the “Lal-Qila.”

Jal Mahal - Jal Mahal (meaning “Water Palace”) is a palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, India. The palace was originally constructed in 1699; the building and the lake around it were later renovated and enlarged in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber.
City Palace of Jaipur - The City Palace, Jaipur, is a royal residence and former administrative headquarters of the rulers of the Jaipur State in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The construction of the Palace was completed in 1732. It now houses the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum and continues to be the home of the Jaipur royal family. The palace complex has several buildings, various courtyards, galleries, restaurants, and offices of the Museum.
Jantar Mantar - Jaipur - The Jantar Mantar Observatory is a collection of 19 astronomical instruments built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The monument was completed in 1734. It features the world’s largest stone sundial and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The observatory is an example of the Ptolemaic positional astronomy shared by many civilizations.
Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind - The Hawa Mahal is a palace in Jaipur, India. Built from red and pink sandstone, it is on the edge of the City Palace, Jaipur, and extends to the Zenana, or women’s chambers. The structure was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. Its five-floor exterior resembles a honeycomb with its 953 small windows called Jharokhas, decorated with intricate latticework. The original intent of the lattice design was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life and festivals celebrated in the street below without being seen.
Albert Hall Museum - The Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur is the oldest museum in the state and functions as the state museum of Rajasthan, India. The building was designed by Samuel Swinton Jacob, assisted by Mir Tujumool Hoosein, and was opened as a public museum in 1887. It is named after King Edward VII (Albert Edward), during whose visit to the city as the Prince of Wales its foundation stone was laid on 6 February 1876.
Birla Mandir Temple - Birla Mandir, Jaipur (Lakshmi Narayan Temple), was built by the B.M. Birla Foundation in 1988 and is constructed solely of white marble. It is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu (Narayan).
