• Humayun’s Tomb - Commissioned by Empress Bega Begum, Humayun’s Tomb was constructed between 1565 and 1572, costing 1.5 million rupees, fully funded by the Empress. Deeply mourning her husband’s passing, she devoted her life to creating a grand mausoleum near the Yamuna River in Delhi. As per Ain-i-Akbari, a detailed 16th-century document from Akbar’s reign, Bega Begum managed the tomb’s construction after returning from her Hajj pilgrimage.

The British firm Flint and Neill handled the structural design over 18 months, while ECC Construction Group of Larsen & Toubro completed the build at a cost of $10.56 million. Ardishír Rustampúr from Hyderabad, Sindh (Pakistan), generously donated his life savings for the land purchase. A portion of the budget was also used to create a greenhouse for studying native plants and flowers suitable for the site.
