Situated in Nizamuddin East, this tomb was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 and is noted as the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent.
- Qutub Minar - Following this, you will visit Qutub Minar, an impressive 73-meter tower, and the tallest brick minaret globally. Constructed in 1193 by Qutub-ud-din Aibak right after the fall of Delhi’s last Hindu kingdom, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- Lotus Temple - The next stop is the Lotus Temple (closed on Mondays), the last of seven major Bahai temples, completed in 1986 using pure white marble. Surrounding the blooming petals are nine pools of water that illuminate in natural light.
After visiting the Lotus Temple, you will be taken to enjoy a luxurious lunch at a multi-cuisine, fully air-conditioned restaurant where you can savor the city’s delightful flavors and delicacies (at your own expense).
- Friday Mosque (Jama Masjid) - Then, visit Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque, with a courtyard that can accommodate 25,000 worshippers. Initiated in 1650 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, over 5,000 workers labored for six years to complete it.
- India Gate - At the heart of New Delhi stands the 42-meter India Gate, an Arc-de-Triomphe-like archway at a crossroads. It was erected as a tribute to the 70,000 Indian soldiers who perished in World War I. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, it was completed in 1931. The visit is expected to last 15 minutes.
- Red Fort - After visiting the gate, proceed to the Red Fort, built in 1648 by the 5th Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, and served as the emperor’s residence for nearly 200 years, until 1857. The Red Fort’s innovative architectural style, including its garden design, influenced subsequent buildings and gardens in Delhi. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. The visit is expected to last an hour. In the evening, you will be returned to your hotel or airport, along with cherished memories of your Delhi sightseeing tour.
