Upon arrival in Agra, they will be guided to the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This iconic 17th-century monument of love took over 20 years to complete. It was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in memory of his Queen, Mumtaz Mahal. Crafted in white marble with intricate lattice work, the Taj’s beauty captivates every visitor.
- Agra Fort - The next stop is the historic Agra Fort. It served as the residence of the Mughal Emperors for over 200 years until 1638, when the capital moved from Agra to Delhi. Built in red sandstone, the fort features several well-preserved halls such as the Hall of Public Audience, the Hall of Private Audience, the Khas Mahal built in white marble, and the Nagina Masjid, a mosque exclusively for the women of the court.
- Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah - The following destination is the exquisite tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, built by a devoted daughter in memory of her father. It was the first tomb in India to be constructed entirely of white marble and is considered the architectural inspiration for the Taj Mahal.
Next, enjoy lunch (at own expense) at a local restaurant.
- Kachhpura - After lunch, embark on a heritage walk to explore the Mughal era ruins in the village of Kachhpura. The village features the remains of a sundial, Humayun’s Mosque, and ancient stepwells. Experience the rustic charm of the village while strolling past the colorfully decorated mud houses.
- Mehtab Bagh - Conclude the walk with a visit to Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden), located opposite the Taj on the other side of the River Yamuna. Relish the view of the Taj at sunset before concluding the trip.
At the end of the tour, guests will be driven back to Delhi and dropped off at their hotel.
