- Wild Louisiana Launch - You can be picked up at the historic St. Roch Market right outside of the French Quarter or drive yourself the short 30 min drive to the tour location. - Wild Louisiana Launch - You can be picked up at the historic St. Roch Market right outside of the French Quarter or drive yourself the short 30 min drive to the tour location. The group will convene at the trip starting point and an introductory lecture on kayaking the swamp will be given. You will then enter your kayak and follow your guide through the scenic Manchac Swamp, a slow-moving bayou that once was home to the destroyed logging ghost town of Ruddock, LA and served as a passage way for historic New Orleans explorers; Iberville, Biennville, and more.
Stops will be made along the way and your guide will teach you about the swamp’s history and wildlife. The tour duration is anywhere from 2-3hrs depending on the groups kayaking experience. Once you return to the launch site you will join the rest of the group to be transported back to the city. If you drive out yourself you can depart as soon as you return to the launch site.

Paddling with swamp puppies - We had a chill late afternoon paddle through the swamp. AJ, our guide, was calm and knowledgeable about the Louisiana waterways, wildlife, and plants. The sounds of nature added to the peaceful experience. Overall, it was a fun and educational adventure.

Highly recommended, this tour is an absolute must if you’re anywhere near New Orleans or southern Louisiana. - Our kayak trip today with Wild Louisiana Kayak Swamp Tours was great. From the moment we arrived. Our guide, Al, made us feel welcome, safe, and excited to explore. Gliding through the cypress-lined waterways felt like entering another world—peaceful, mysterious, and alive with birdsong and the gentle rustle of the trees. We spotted herons, egrets, turtles, and even a few gators from a respectful distance. Our guide struck the perfect balance between engaging storytelling and giving us time to soak in the quiet beauty of our environment. The overall experience was thoughtfully curated.
Highly recommended, this tour is an absolute must if you’re anywhere near New Orleans or southern Louisiana.

Great kayak tour - AJ was an amazing guide. He took us to a beautiful and unique bayou spot to paddle and he shared extensive environmental knowledge of the area. It was our favorite activity for our vacation. I highly recommend.

Really great tour and tour guide - The other half of the group cancelled so we were only the 2 of us and our guide AJ.
We had a great time and saw so many swamp puppy's both big and small, he was really good at spotting wildlife in general. 10/10 so great.

Excellent trip - We had an excellent tour through the bayou! Our guide was forthcoming and answered all our questions. Great to experience the wildlife of the region. Highly recommend. Bring bug spray!

Great. - An extremely pleasant outing, a guide who makes the effort to speak slowly for strangers. Paddling in this quiet environment in the middle of beautiful nature and seeing turtles, snakes, alligators, spiders and birds is a real pleasure.
We really recommend this tour.

Serpentine swamp Lake leads to adventure - This kayak excursion was the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. It was impactful, informative, and just beautiful. The guide was intelligent and knew how to navigate a group of people who didn’t know each other in a way where we all felt comfortable. The flora & fauna was ephemeral. Seeing alligators, birds, and turtles is always a blessing to me, and hearing about the biology and history (even the mythos like Lou garou) is a great way to provide environmental insight and maintain oral knowledge.

Fantastic ethical wildlife tours. - This has been the absolute highlight of our trip to New Orleans. We had a fantastic time kayaking through the water at a comfortable, leisurely pace, taking in the incredible sights and sounds of the bayou, whilst the guides provided information about what we were seeing around us and even local legends. The guides were constantly on the look out for wildlife, we saw alligators of varying sizes, plenty of turtles, spiders and some amazing birds. We were reminded to keep a respectful distance if we happened to see any larger alligators. This is a true wildlife tour as you are out spotting these animals in their natural habitat, without luring them with harmful processed foods or trapping them to pass them around like toys.
Both of our guides were phenomenal and professional and the transport option was well worth it.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience today, thank you.
