Make it a Destination. Wow. - I wish we'd had a week to spend here. This place is amazing, though emotionally draining. Much of the building is decorated to look as though you're really there, with bombed-out buildings, the hidden bookcase at the Anne Frank section, bunkers, etc. The Tom Hanks film in 4-D will break your heart, but don't miss it. It's fabulous. My father was stationed in England with at B-24 crew. They were involved in the fire bombings at Prague and Dresden, and part of the air cover at Normandy. He wouldn't talk about it, and I have a much better understanding now of why. I hope that younger generations will visit so that they understand the sacrifices that are necessary to maintain our freedom. If we're ever back in New Orleans, we will pay another visit.

Everyone needs to visit - Spend all day, possibly spend two! There is so much good information, so many stories that deserve to be heard. See the movies. Bring tissues. Don’t let history repeat itself.

World War II museum is a must-see - We have all heard about WWII - but if you are not familiar with the details and chronology of the war - you will be once you complete this visit. This is a long overdue venue for the U.S.. Plan on wearing comfortable walking shoes and spending at least 3-5 hours. I highly recommend watching some of the film options. We did not do a guided tour. The only problem we had was finding our way around, but there was usually a staff person around to help us find our way between buildings. It's an experience everyone should do at least once in their life. There are some restaurants, but we did not use any of them. There are plenty of restrooms and gift shops also.

Excellent museum, but bring a snack - There is SO MUCH to see; you can easily spend more than a day! We were happy with what we saw in the 5 hours we had. The 4D movie is excellent! I took away 1 star because the food in the cafe is crazy expensive! A premade turkey sandwich and bag of chips was $12-14 before taxes or a drink!
