The scene is iconic, often depicted in films and photographs: elegantly dressed women in stunning hats making their way to church in Harlem for Sunday worship. However, it’s not just about fashion or spectacle; for Harlem congregants, church worship and the church community are essential aspects of life, providing weekly spiritual nourishment. Sunday Gospel in Harlem extends an invitation to experience this tradition by respectfully joining a local church family for an hour of worship, including gospel music.
Please be aware that the full church service lasts 90 minutes or more. The tour group participates for an hour, leaving before the sermon begins. If you wish to remain for the entire service, please inform the tour guide during check-in. Choosing to stay for the full service means you will be on your own and will miss the walking tour.
If this tour is fully booked, consider the Wednesday Gospel Praise Music option.
