Nicosia is an intriguing city to discover, offering a view into two distinct worlds. This tour begins in the southern Cypriot region and crosses the ‘Green Line’ buffer zone to explore the northern part of Nicosia.
The first stop is St John’s Cathedral, constructed in the unique Franco-Byzantine style found only in Cyprus, followed by a visit to the Cyprus Folk Art Museum, located in the old Archbishopric Palace. The tour continues with a stroll through the historic streets of Laiki Geitonia, nestled within the Venetian city walls. This area is a labyrinth of winding streets, featuring churches, squares, and ornate buildings, giving it the feel of a village rather than a city center.
After crossing the Green Line to the north, participants will hear stories of the city’s history and culture while visiting some of the main attractions. The tour concludes with a return to the southern area, where visitors can explore Ledra Street and experience modern city life at their own pace.
