• Famagusta Gate - The Famagusta Gate stands as the most prominent of the Venetian Lefkosia gates, constructed in the 16th century. It once opened onto the road leading to Cyprus’s most vital port in Famagusta.
• Medieval Venetian Walls - This is not an ordinary city walk, but a journey through a town preserved in time. It offers insight into the current state of the Buffer Zone “Green Line,” off the beaten path, on streets that are difficult to find without the expertise of a local guide. You will observe the Venetian walls and how they encircle the Old City, so distinctive that once seen on a map, they are unforgettable, synonymous with the unique shape of this ancient fortification. During our walk, we will explore the southern side of the city and follow the renowned “Green Line” that divides the city into southern and northern parts. This separation has kept the two main communities, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, apart for over four decades. Our journey begins at the Ledra Palace Hotel, once known as the largest and most magnificent hotel in the capital. You will witness life evolving on both sides of this divide, something that was once impossible until recent agreements allowed border crossings. We will explore Ledra Street, located at the heart of the walled city, now revitalized as one of the most popular pedestrian commercial streets, highlighted by abandoned buildings reclaimed by nature over decades, marked by bullet holes, military outposts, and barricades.
