• Birkat Al Mouz Ruins - Nestled at the foot of Jabal Akhdar, approximately 25 minutes from Nizwa, the ghost town of Birkat Al Mouz (meaning “banana pool”) offers a picturesque setting for a half-hour hike. The Al Falaj irrigation system still flows through the village streets, and there’s an entertaining trick to try: bring three colorful, small balls, drop them in the same water channel, and watch as they diverge into different waterways a few meters down each time.
