Amazing 3 days 2 nights Rinjani trek with Bas Rjnjani Trekking - Rinjani always on my ‘to do list’ I never really get a chance for it. Every time I asked a friend to join they rejected me. So this time, I decided to do it myself. Yes, me alone! I was doing a lot of research trying to find a good tour agent for a solo girl. I came across ‘Bas Rinjani Trekking’ with no second doubt I booked up a 3D2N trek with him. With ‘Bas Rinjani Trekking’ you basically don’t have to ‘plan’ the trek. He picked me up at the airport, then drove all the way to Senaru Village. A clean room for a night rest before the trek, after I settled down Mr Bas gave me a briefing session about the trek. I was told I will be joining 3 other trekkers for my 3D2N trek to Rinjani. There are 2 porters and 1 guide for me and my 3 other trekking buddies. Salute to my 2 porters, they are amazing guys. They carried so much stuff and make sure everything was ready before we arrived the camp. Not only carrying camping stuff, they cooked very nice meals for us too! Amazing..!!! Our guide, Assan, he was great.! He was always there making sure the 3 of us were good the whole trek. I can’t thanks the 3 of them enough, we were so well taken care of by them in this 3D2N on the mountain. I have no regret for my decision to book my trip with ‘Bas Rinjani Trekking’ from the minute I arrived in Lombok till I finished the whole 3D2N trek at Rinjani and was sent to my next destination. They did it well, all very well organised. Once again, thank you ‘Bas Rinjani Trekking’

One of the best experiences of my life - Highly recommend for your travels to Lombok! Azmy helped from the moment we got off our boat to showing us around the island and dropping us to our accommodation. Madel, Topen and Andi were an incredible help during our 24hour hike up to Rinjani and they were so friendly and nice to be around! Will definitely be back to do this again. You can contact Azmy on +6281805259453. These guys have been out of business for a long time now and are so appreciative of the increase in tourism now.

Great ascent to summit of Rinjani - Overall very positive experience. Great climb and nature, and the service of the guides and porters has been fantastic. Transportation and accommodation has been basic, but did not cause any trouble. The communication with the company has been the most problematic part when booking and confirming all the details, because the replies via whatsapp were not always timely nor accurate, even though at the end we got what we paid for, about 150€ all included. We did 2days 1night climb to summit. Exhaustive experience, but we really looked forward for a shower at the end! Below the full details of our experience. There are two starting points to climb Rinjani: Senaru and Sembalun villages. Senaru village is located at about 300m above sea level and it is distant about 3h drive from airport. Senaru village is mostly suitable for hiking to the senaru crater rim (2500-2700m) and lake (need to go down about 500m from the rim to reach the lake) with just one night out, or to rinjani summit (3720m) with two nights out. Sembalun village is about 40mins drive away from Senaru village, it is situated at 1150m above sea level and mostly suitable to reach the summit with just one night out. This is what we did. We had pickup at airport and after a couple of stops to refill the car radiator (probalby the car was older than me!) we reached Senaru village and our guesthouse. The guesthouse was decent, not a luxury accommodation, but the host was really nice people. Since we arrived in the middle of the afternoon we opted for a hike to the waterfalls nearby, really a nice trip worth to spend the afternoon. We received a briefing by the owner’s son around 7pm and at 9pm we were surprised to need a medical checkup that is mandatory to enter the Rinjani park gates (they test blood pressure and oxygen rate). Morning after we have been awaken by the mullah singing from the mosque at 4:30am and could not help sleep any more cause the holy man awaked also all the roosters of the surroundings… breakfast ans departure by 7am to Sembalun aboard of a truck with our guide and 2 porters. At Sembalun we had to queue a bit with the other climbers at the park center to show the medical pass and be admitted to the park, then 10-15 minutes of bumpy road to go to the parking. There started our trail, divided into “positions” that are the stops you would normally take to rest. Position two is where we stopped for lunch: the lunch is cooked by the guide and porters, who assemble a table camp and chairs for the guests. At position two you would find the only proper toilet of the journey, and tor the rest of the trip this is managed in a more “natural” way. Climb continues quite steep after position two and you would reach the rim at 3-5pm depending how fast you climb. The porters climb surprisingly fast balancing a load of 30kg on thei shoulders. At the rim they prepare the camp with tents, mattresses and sleeping bags, and they cook a nosh like fried bananas and then dinner around 6pm. The panorama is superb from there but we had some clouds hiding the view. You sleep early because the next day starts at 1am. You get a light breakfast and start the climb to summit for the remaining 1000 meters. You need to be well dressed because temperature approaches 0°C and you need a headlight and hiking sticks are also recommended. The climb is more difficult due to the ash dust that causes you to slide down at every step, and it is quite steep. We got up to the summit in about 3h from the departure, in time to see the sunrise, that is gorgeous, even though very crowded on the top. On the way down you can glide on the ash and it is quite easy and fun to do, till the base camp. There the porters cook a proper breakfast and after that and some rest you can continue the descent for the same route of the way up. Just the first stretch is extremely slippery and steep going down, and you need extra care not to hurt yourself, and it is surprising again how the porters happily stride through balancing their heavy load with their slippers! There is a final stop for lunch again at Position 2, and we got to our truck back by 2pm.
