Highly recommend dog sledding at Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service - We had an awesome experience at Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service dog sledding with our family including older teen kids. The staff is great. I had a great ride with Matt Hall and his barking team of 8!! Mark is an Iditarod finisher and he is a great guide and his dogs were awesome. The other guides were great as well. They have a warming building with gear if you need it and clean bathrooms. We highly recommend!

Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service is highly recommended and if you looking to have a great time! Very friendly and organized!! - We had an excellent experience at Rod’s! We went dog sledding during the day and Joe, our Musher, was awesome! Very friendly, answered all our questions and made sure we had a great time. We also had an excellent experience Aurora viewing and Ice Fishing later that night. Our fish were cooked for us not long after we caught them and was the best fish I’ve ever had. I have forgotten our guides name, but he was great and made excellent “American” hot chocolate 🤣. We saw the lights off and on all night and caught several fish. We were there in 3/27/2025

Truly a Lifetime Experience (dogs and snowmobiling) in the Last Frontier - Enjoyed two fun-filled adventures April 2025 at Rod's Alaskan Guide Service (dogmushing and snowmobiling). Both with my wife and I, daughter/husband and 4 grandsons ages 7 to 13 visiting Alaska for 10 days from Texas and Utah. Many activities from Seward and Anchorage to Fairbanks. Hoping to inspire our grandsons to return to Alaska one day. We experienced Seward/boat tour at Resurrection Bay, Anchorage...Alaskan Train, Fairbanks with Aurora Borealis, Walking with Reindeer, Dogmushing, Snowmobiling, Flightseeing at Denali and Seward (Harding Ice Field). And the endless natural beauty of this great state. And luscious Alaskan food and a few great ethnic choices in Anchorage, Fairbanks and North Pole.Wow!!!
As for Rods Alaskan Guide Service - all 8 people enjoyed an absolutely fin-filled, adventuresome day with Rods broken up by visits to North Pole shops and restaurants .
Firstly, my shout out and thanks for friendly, helpful service from initial booking, to follow-up calls to check-in for the office staff - Catt, Macey, Kelsey and especially Victoria.
As for 30-minute dogmushing, it's an activity not to miss. I had the great pleasure of dogmushing for six glorious days in 1996 in Finland while living in Scotland. Had my own team, with guides and six other European visitors teams. We all took training then drove our own teams for 5 full days. I quickly learned the sheer joy of dogsledding. Having said that, my group of eight including grandsons had a blast riding in the sleds (2 per sled) for 30 minutes in Alaska with Rods. Scenery and experience all very safe yet adventure packed. And close interaction with the dogs. Very special and well-cared for animals. Believe me on this point. A very special call-out to our four guides Kristin, Laura, Jimmy and Joe who own/operate their own dog teams. Informative and exciting tour.
The snowmobiling (or snow machines as its properly known) was a one-hour tour with four machines (1 adult with 1 child) each. Also not to miss activity!! Victoria Forrester was our guide on this tour with her own snow machine. Once again, great scenery on good trails (end of season so snow/temps were not great but decent). Great safety briefing and stops along the trails for photos. 11 YO grandson was concerned about going to slow - being paired with my wife (his grandmother). But they got up to 50mph (so they say lol) and had a blast.
I highly recommend Rod's for dogmushing, snowmobiling or other activities such as ice fishing. Well organized, professional and safety conscious. Not inexpensive but value for the money. Great parking. Restrooms and some special gear (gators and helmets) provided by Rods. Bring your own Winter gear (ask if in doubt).

Unique and professional experience! - Such a fun and unique experience! We are a family of five so we had 3 different dog mushers. All were very good and take such great care of their dogs. We got to go out at the same time and even kinda had a race which was fun!
Rod's Guide Service is very professional and organized. Good communication and clear instructions/directions. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Dog sled tour- highlight of our trip - Had an amazing time on the dog sledding tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Fairbanks for both the teenagers and adults in our party. Deke and Luther were our guides and were so generous in sharing about their lives as mushers as well as allowing us to experience their amazing dogs. We did a one hour tour, but wish we had done the two hour. Will definitely return if we are back in Fairbanks.

Jimmy's dog were the best - This was my first experience on a dog sled. It was simply amazing. The day was beautiful, the dogs were so cute, and most importantly, Jimmy was soooo nice. I won't be able to thank him enough for giving us this amazing and unique experience in Alaska.
Jimmy took a bunch of pictures for us and with us, and explain everything we wanted to know about the dogs. Thank you for letting us try to drive the sled 😁

Lots of fun with a dog sled team - We had a great time on the dog sled. Jimmy was our guide and he did a great job. He told us about his dogs, the history of dog sleds and made the trip a great learning experience. Great job by Jimmy’s Dogs at Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service.

Amazing Dog Sledding Experience! - Our dog sledding adventure with Luther as our guide was absolutely incredible! He was so nice, super friendly, and made sure we had a great time. He even took pictures for us with the dogs, which we really appreciated.
The dogs themselves were the sweetest, they are so well-trained, affectionate, and full of energy. It was an unforgettable experience, definitely one of the best things we did in Alaska. If you’re visiting, this is something you have to try. Highly recommend!
