Although the company is relatively new, the trips offered are based on a lifetime of local experience, now shared with guests. These are not typical packaged tours; they provide an authentic glimpse into Interior Alaska, drawing on over 20 years of exploring these waters.
The journey begins at the Nordale boat launch, where the group will travel upstream on the Chena River by jet boat. Upon reaching the Chena River Dam, the motor is turned off, and the boat transitions to a peaceful drift, allowing the river to guide the way back downstream. This is when the adventure truly unfolds—free from engine noise, surrounded only by the natural sounds of the river and wilderness.
Drifting offers excellent opportunities to observe wildlife along the riverbanks and in the water. It’s common to spot moose feeding in the shallows, beavers working along the banks, and birds such as bald eagles and ducks. Occasionally, black bears are also seen during the drift. While wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, this tranquil stretch of river is a prime habitat, and animals are frequently observed.
