A lovely relaxing river cruise with afternoon tea. - Hubby and I had a lovely relaxing two hour afternoon tea cruise. I knew what to expect foodwise before we went as I had looked at previous reviews on trip advisor and seen photos. The food was simple but nicely presented and tasty. The tables are set up so there are perspex screens between so although all the tables were occupied you couldnt hear other conversations. The cruise itself was very serene with lots to look at along the journey. Staff were fabulous. Our cups of tea were filled several times and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a bar where you could purchase additional drinks at very reasonable prices.

Second choice, but not second best. First class. - What a wonderful trip, made even more enjoyable by the attitudes of the friendly staff, especially the two young gentlemen who served our food, and tea/coffee. I was bought this trip as a birthday gift. It was originally planned as a different trip from another supplier, which fell through, and this was second choice. I have to say though, it certainly wasn't second best, it was wonderful. I hadn't fancied afternoon tea, but it was first class, and I enjoyed very bit of it. The tea and coffee were bottomless, and as good as you'd get in a high class coffee shop. All in all, I can't recommend it enough.

Wonderful and relaxing canal trip - Absolutely wonderful. My elderly father did not want to go and doesn’t like afternoon tea but even he said how nice it was and he really enjoyed the day. Unlimited tea and coffee (even decaf) throughout the trip in fact Ben and Harry were at the table every few minutes. Both my elderly mother who can hardly walk and my 85 yr old dad who uses crutches managed the 5 steps in and out of the boat with Ben & Harry’s help. We traveled 1hr 20 mins to get there and I’d definitely go again. There was even an elderly blind man on our trip and he was handled very carefully and helped to his seat. The food was delicious too.

Go’in “Doon the Water” … and back again - On a recent visit to Knaresborough, we wanted to experience and explore Yorkshire, so it up to me to book various tours and trips. Never having been in Yorkshire before I was reliant on the good old internet. I don’t know how I managed it but, all my choices were bang on the money and everyone enjoyed whatever it was, I had booked for them, so lots of brownie points for me ! So, with that in mind, and after many hours on the trusty iPad, one of the things I booked was an afternoon tea …. On a canal boat !! Well, my partner and I, along with her sister and her man, went on and enjoyed an afternoon tea cruise with Skipton Boat Trips, and it was brilliant from boarding the boat to disembarking. And as if I had arranged that as well, the weather was perfect with the sun shining beating down on the calm waters of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, making for the most picturesque journey up the canal (and back again). [ OK, there was a shower while we out, but I’m glossing over that 🤭] As the boat navigated through Skipton’s core, past other canal boats, and barges, we enjoy an engaging journey on a traditional narrowboat. The staff on board were fantastic, and they were a friendly bunch that served us our afternoon tea. Not only that, but they also jumped off the barge and ran up the footpath to open and close the gates and bridges, Two members of staff [ and I’m sorry I’ve forgotten your names, but you know who you are ] , were very attentive, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They were always there to top up our teacups or coffee mugs, and their cheery attitude they really added to the whole trip. We were well looked after, and it was clear they genuinely enjoy what they do. The afternoon tea itself was delicious, with the choice of sandwiches, fruit scones with strawberry jam and cream, and decadent desserts. All served with unlimited tea and coffee. And no …. We didn’t take pictures of our afternoon tea …. Why ?? Anyway, it was just the right amount amount of food to enjoy as we gently cruised along, taking pictures and soaking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery. We went all the way up to Bradley before we turned to come back. A very pleasant ‘drift through the canal’ We all agreed that ”I had made an excellent choice” of ‘what to do’ while we were away, and if you have the time, and you are in Skipton, this is obviously a must-do activity for anyone visiting the area. The combination of the stunning views, the delightful food, and the great staff made for a memorable and relaxing afternoon up and down the canal. We are already planning our next trip, ”doon the water”! On a sober note, while researching for our trip I had to read a lot of reviews ( just like this one ), and I was reliant on 1) The advertising and 2) The reviews because not coming from the area I was totally dependent on what I gleaned off the internet. So, I was a bit concerned about the one-star reviews and the people moaning and complaining about one thing or another, but to tell you the truth, from the get-go everyone ( and I mean everyone) was friendly, courteous, helpful and made the trip what it was. Boat trips are especially difficult to manage you have limited space, and unlike a hotel the longboats actually move, need maintenance and an expert hand on the tiller. So, thank you Skipton Boat Trips, you have 4 fans north of the border.

Afternoon tea - The afternoon tea looked nothing like the pictures shown. The sandwich’s were very basic with sparse fillings. The scones were very nice , although tiny . The boat was cold had to sit with coat on. The chap serving was good
