It was originally a warehouse for goods being transported on the canal, hence the large cranes outside- one facing the canal, the other facing our cobbled car park, formerly stables for horses towing the craft. Somewhere near the site of the wharf, although the exact location is now lost, was Winterwell Hall, a medieval manor whose remains were lost during the building of the canal basin.

Lovely afternoon with a super company - An absolutely fantastic afternoon. The afternoon tea was lovely, the journey along the canal was so peaceful and beautiful and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I can't recommend afternoon tea on the canal enough.

Treat Yourself or Someone You Love To Afternoon Tea. - My daughter got her gran and myself vouchers for afternoon tea and the three of us had a wonderful time, a lovely choice of sandwiches and bread, delicious sausage roll and absolutely fantastic cakes, scones with clotted cream and jam, a tub of strawberries and cream, not forgetting the chocolate covered strawberries.
We brought a box home of ones we couldn't finish so even her Dad didn't miss out.
Joyce who served us was friendly and welcoming making sure we had everything we needed.
This is the fourth time I've been here for afternoon tea and can honestly not recommend it highly enough.
Just make sure to book in advance.

Family day in the Dales - Superb service! Delicious tea, sandwiches, scones and sweeties. The staff were extremely helpful and had some good information about our other destinations on our list. Make this tour part of your plans, you will enjoy it.

Relax and enjoy - The crew were extremely friendly and helpful. The tea, food and all, was delicious. Grateful that a car park was nearby.
It was an enjoyable, relaxing experience. Enjoyed seeing the beautiful countryside with cows, sheep, and lambs, and water fowl. The slow pace of the boat and breeze from the window, made it even more relaxing.

Nice but uncomfortable. - We have done the one hour cruise a few times but it isn't really long enough. Therefore, the two hour afternoon tea cruise, was a much better prospect and we liked the option of a savoury tea. I noticed that some people were disappointed by not being at the front. Let me tell you that they had a lucky escape. All the seats on the boat face either forward or backwards, except the two at the front, which face sideways and at an angle, with a narrower but longer table, making it difficult for you to shoehorn yourself into place. The fact that you are facing sideways, means that all you can comfortably see, is the smiling faces of the people opposite. It is difficult, indeed painful, to crick your neck to try and see forward and consequently, you miss much of the beauty of the canal and getting decent photos was impossible.
I have to say that the skipper and the young lads doing the service, did an excellent job and the afternoon tea itself, was most enjoyable. Because of the discomfort, the two hours was too long and made even worse, when we had to make a fifteen minute pit stop to remove something tangled around the propeller. It is a good cruise and I would go on it again providing I was sitting at the back, rather than the front.

Wonderful experience with very basic food - Everything was as described. The boat was very comfortable, the staff were great and the scenery was superb. The actual afternoon tea was very basic. More like a very cheap buffet. People coming round with jugs of tea and coffee, topping up your cup. There was a charge for anything else. I appreciate that a full barista-style coffee machine is unrealistic on a boat that size but for the price I paid, I was expecting the food and drink to be better quality.

Skipton boat trip with afternoon tea - Enjoyed the trip, food good, served by two very polite young very fit gentlemen, views for the first hour not so good, apparently went in the other direction than normal due to a problem with a bridge, then went back to the start and went in the normal direction, but over all enjoyable.
