- Ortigia - Next, the tour proceeds to the charming peninsula of Ortigia. Starting from the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, enjoy a delightful walk leading to the Duomo square, where you can admire the stunning white Cathedral of “Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception,” built on the ancient Greek temple of Athena. The walk continues to the Fountain of Arethusa, a legendary freshwater spring with a fountain. UNESCO declared Syracuse a World Heritage Site in 2005. In Ortigia, a typical Sicilian snack of “Tavola Calda” with water and red wine will be offered. Alternatively, you can enjoy an hour of free time to have lunch at one of the many wonderful restaurants in the city’s alleys.
- Noto - After lunch, the tour will drive to Noto, a gem of Sicilian Baroque and a UNESCO heritage site. Noto is considered an “open-air museum.” Here, the tour will explore its main street starting from the “Porta Reale,” passing by the Church of St. Francesco with its majestic staircase. Palazzo Ducenzio is located in Piazza Municipio. While admiring the numerous palaces and churches, a visit to the Cathedral Church is a must.
