- Hill Ouen Toro - Ouen-Toro hill stands prominently opposite this rocky point. A road traverses the municipal park, leading to the summit at 128 meters, offering a breathtaking view of the lagoon. At the top, two impressive cannons, installed by the Australian army in 1940, provide a historical touch. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy an unmatched view of Noumea and its surrounding areas.
Descending the hill, the road frequently reveals captivating views of the city’s various sides. To the south, the Méridien and Château Royal hotels are visible, bordered by Château Royal beach, Anse Vata beach, and further away, the islands Île aux Canards and Îlot Maître. Heading west, the two bays, Baie des Citrons and Baie de l’Orphelinat, unfold. To the north, residential districts such as Val Plaisance, Motor Pool, Receiving, and N’Géa can be seen. Finally, to the east, Sainte-Marie bay and its small islands are visible, with the mountains of Mont-Dore and the hills of New Caledonia’s Great South, the Grand Sud, rising in the distance.
- Anse Vata Beach - Nestled between two large rocks, Rocher César towards pointe Magnin and the renowned Rocher à la voile on the Lemon Bay side, Anse Vata is a major tourist attraction in Nouméa. On the east side, a pedestrian path runs along the extensive beach, the Roger-Laroque promenade, featuring numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, and nightclubs.
- Lemon Bay - Situated less than 10 minutes from the city center, Baie des Citrons is currently the most vibrant seaside location in the Caledonian “capital.” Shops, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs line the promenade, much to the delight of tourists and locals alike.
- Orphelinat Bay - Once home to several industrial activities, including nickel smelting at Chaleix workshops, “Orphelinat” Bay is now primarily a charming residential area that also includes South Port Marina. The waterfront has been recently transformed into a pedestrian and bicycle path lined with palm trees, perfect for athletes and families to explore the bays. A relic from the Second World War, an anchor that belonged to the US military stationed in the country during that time, now sits in the middle of the main roundabout in the neighborhood, bay front, and is known as the “crossroads of marine anchor.”
- Place des Cocotiers - The Place des Cocotiers (Coconut Tree Square) has been the heart of Nouméa since the late 19th century. Spanning nearly 4 hectares (and 400 meters long from east to west), its expansive esplanade with a gentle slope serves as a venue for gatherings, relaxation, and celebrations throughout the year.
