In the latter half of the 17th century, crystal-clear glass began to be produced in Czech lands, known for its clarity, brilliance, and hardness, making it perfect for engraving and grinding. Bohemian crystal became so sought after globally that by the first half of the 18th century, Bohemia was the leading glass exporter worldwide.
- Novy Bor - Our first stop is Novotny Glass Studio, a family-run glassworks in the glass town of Nový Bor, located 100 km north of Prague. It is owned by the internationally acclaimed glass master Petr Novotný. The latest productions are primarily replicas of historical glass for the American market, but they also frequently produce chandelier parts and various utility glass.
The Novotny Glass Museum showcases a collection of modern glass art. The exhibition mainly features the private collection of the world-renowned glass master and museum owner Petr Novotný. Here, you can admire works by leading Czech glass designers such as René and Miluše Roubíček, J. Šuhájek, and Bořek Šípek. Among the international artists, you will find D. Chihuly /US/, J. Mongrain /US/, and M. Behrens /Ger/. The museum also houses many famous trophies and awards.

Novy Bor - Our second invitation is to visit Jiri Pacinek.
This talented glass artist and craftsman captivates many glass art collectors and enthusiasts. He began his career at Chribska 1414 Glass Works and, after years of honing his skills at Glass Works Ajeto, he had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned world glass art legends such as B. Šípek, R. Roubíček, L. Applebaum, L. Sakalowski, and others. Ajeto provided him with an exceptional opportunity to develop his unique style, which he now cultivates in his own Glass Works. Here, he creates large-scale, technically challenging decorative sculptures alongside everyday glass objects like vases and bowls. Visitors can also enjoy a Glass garden and the stunning Crystal Church. - Pivovar Cvikov - Our next stop is the famous Cvikov brewery, where you can savor beer and local cuisine.
For the third time, as part of our glassmaking expedition, we will visit Filip Lukavec’s workshop. Filip is a young and emerging glass artist and craftsman. His roots are in a glass region known as the crystal valley. He studied glass cutting at the secondary glass school of Kamenický Šenov, where he quickly demonstrated his talent and passion for mold-melted glass. Filip now has his own studio, where you can experience firsthand the atmosphere in which his creations come to life.
On this trip, you will have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs or large pieces of art, with international shipping available. During transportation, you will pass through the picturesque villages of Kokorinsko and the Lusitanian mountains. Every moment will be enjoyable!
