Great for dark chocolate lovers! - Very informative tour that really explained the science behind growing cacao trees and what parts were used to make chocolate. My friend and I found it super interesting and fun to learn about. The tasting of different fruits found around and fresh cacao was a highlight! The chocolate tasting was great, but really for people who love dark chocolate ;) Would highly recommend if you are looking for a novel experience and love dark chocolate! Tips: Take up the tour guide's offer on the bug repellent! I got 5 mosquito bites before I asked for the spray lol

*Our Hawaiian Highlight* - I went for the chocolate. And, thanks to this lady, I now know about jorquettes, peduncles and wilted cherelles. I also ate chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate! We visited Kamananui Cacao Orchard - a working cacao farm on Hawaii’s North Shore - to learn about the process of turning this exotic fruit into a delectable melt in the mouth morsel. My husband and I took our son, who is 27 and has cerebral palsy, and he managed without difficulty. Take a cap, sunscreen and maybe some bug spray. What a bonus to meet Katie, our tour guide! With a background in agriculture, a killer smile and warm personality, Katie is a wealth of information, not just about cacao but so many other aspects of crop growing and sustainability. Local or a regular visitor to Hawaii but never heard of this tour? That’s because it’s only been around for a few months. If you’re coming to Oahu, I absolutely recommend this tour and the Manoa Chocolate tasting. This was a special experience annd an highlight of our Hawaiian adventure. And a word to her bosses, Katie deserves a new machete. A fancy one.

tour of entertainment - The tour was far more than you would expect. Our guide, Cathy, led our group to a deep understanding of cacao while also entertaining us with tastings and storytelling. It took a while to reach the site on foot after passing through the gates, so it would be better to go by car.

Very educational - Our guide Katy provided a fun and educational experience. We were not familiar with the chocolate making process at all and now we feel we have a very good understanding. The tasting at the end was very well done also.

10/10! Excellent tour and chocolate tasting. Learned a lot! - Excellent and informative tour with guide Chari. As an exotic fruit farmer familiar with cacao, I still learned quite a lot about the cacao growing process. Lovely to see their permaculture design using support species and larger trees as windbreaks and shade providers. Excellent way to build biodiversity and restore land fertility. Cacao fruit and chocolate tasting was amazing! Highly recommend this tour!
