The sandbar is impressively expansive, measuring approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) in width and 3 miles (4.8 km) in length. Visitors can admire the lush, rolling Ko’olau Mountains on one side and the vast ocean horizon on the other. The sandbar itself is a ridge of soft, white sand that emerges during low tide.

Paddling from the He’eia Kea Boat Harbor to the Kaneohe Sandbar takes around 45 minutes. The water is a deep teal, and as you approach the sandbar, you can enjoy the beautiful gradient from dark blue-green to a brilliant white.
