We are one of the few locally owned/operated surf schools on the North Shore of Oahu. We are one of the few locally owned/operated surf schools on the North Shore of Oahu. We have been teaching surfing for over 20 years and love to pass on our knowledge of surfing to anyone willing to learn! There is no better place to learn how to surf then the birth place of surfing! Lessons are for for all ages and all levels. Surfboard and rash guard will be provided for the lesson. The beach we teach at is also a very popular beach for seeing turtles, I’m sure we will see a few during our surf lesson. Learn from the best and come surf with us! We are also one of the only surf schools with fluent Japanese speaking instructors!

Our winter location we are at Puaena Point beach park and our summer location is located at Chuns Reef Beach. Both spots are with in 5-7 minute drive from each other. Located on the North Shore of Oahu

BEST SURF SCHOOL EVER - My girlfriend and I had an incredible experience learning to surf with Kalani at North Shore Banzai Surf School. From the very start, Kalani was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. He explained everything clearly, from ocean safety to technique, and made sure we felt comfortable and confident before getting in the water.
What really stood out was how patient and encouraging he was—he broke things down in a way that was easy to understand, and his passion for surfing really showed. Thanks to his guidance, we were both able to catch waves and truly enjoy the experience.
If you’re looking for someone who’s not only intelligent and skilled but also genuinely invested in helping you succeed, Kalani is the person to go with. We couldn’t recommend North Shore Banzai Surf School more highly!

First surf lesson - This was my first ever surf lesson and I can definitely recommend it to everyone! Instructor has great teaching skills and a lot of positive energy, so after a while I was able to catch the waves :)

Great for kids, fun, experience of a lifetime - This surf lesson was the highlight of our vacation for my sons (ages 14 and 11)! This was their first time surfing and I had mom nerves but Kelani was terrific with them and they were up on their boards very quickly with minimal instructional sand time. Highly recommend visiting the North Shore, worth the trip even if the only thing you do is this surf lesson!

Surfing is great. - It was my first time surfing, and I really enjoyed it and was more satisfied than I expected.
The instructor was friendly and funny! A Japanese person living in Hawaii was able to respond in Japanese, which was really helpful! Super recommended for those considering surfing in Hawaii (*^^*)

Great Experience - We had a great time! Instructors were great and very friendly. They did a great job making sure we all had plenty of opportunities to catch some waves. We had 4 kids from ages 11 - 16 who all were able to surf easily! We even saw sea turtles!

Thank you for the best experience. - This was the first challenge for the family, but Keoni's friendly personality and appropriate advice helped the whole family ride the wave. It was a wonderful experience to ride the waves in beautiful scenery. I am very happy to have had another good time with my family. Thank you, Keoni. If you are in doubt, please try it. I don't think you'll regret it! I recommend Banzai Surf School 👍

Family surfing lesson - Had a surfing lesson with wife and two kids (10 & 7). We had a perfect day, and everybody caught some nice waves. We had lessons in Australia and Indonesia, and the waves in hawaii were the best for beginners like us. Kalani & Keoni helped us all the way. Icing on the cake were the turtles we spotted in the water and on the beach

Awesome lesson - I had taken a surf lesson six years ago but with very small waves and in a group meant there was little opportunity to get really get the feel of surfing.
This was a much better experience. Kalani was a great instructor with very thoughtful and helpful feedback that resulted in me catching and riding waves much faster than I had expected.

First surf on the North Shore - Due to the typhoon, skydiving was cancelled and I quickly searched and booked the day before. We are very sorry that the arrival time was changed many times due to the rental car, but we were able to contact you immediately on LINE and were very attentive to your handling.
Unfortunately, it was a light rainy pattern, but it was a private lesson with one person participating, and even beginners could ride the wave! Finally, I had my surfboard and photo taken, and my dream of surfing on the North Shore came true.
I think Japanese people can participate with confidence because they can speak Japanese and contact us on LINE! If you ever visit Hawaii again, please look forward to it.
