A Magical, Memorable Day (not Half-Day for me) - I had the option to extend to the full day, and I'm so glad I did. I learned so much about Zapotec culture and craft. Angel is a gifted guide, who appreciated my interest in the Underworld mythology surrounding the "Temple of Rest", and we had a wonderful discussion about the possible themes encoded into the architecture. The weaving demonstration was also incredible, witnessing the treatment, spinning, and weaving of the wool--not to mention the the dyes and their origins. The mezcal tasting was where the group really started to interact, because mezcal. I was already a mezcal aficionado, but know I'm a more knowledgeable one. Extending the day took me to Herve de Agua. Just go for it. It's an incredible natural phenomenon, something that will live in my memory for the rest of my life, as permanent as the feature itself. It was a scorching hot day, and swimming in the cold pools was a welcome relief. (I didn't bring a swimsuit, since I hadn't planned on this part but was able to buy one there for $120 MXN.) I finished the day in deep conversation with a new friend I met on the tour, over a cold mezcalita. The day was 10/10.

A perfect half-day tour from Oaxaca - This was a good tour...not as important as Monte Alban, but worthwhile, nonetheless. Our guide, Miguel, was great. Had excellent command of both Spanish and English and had a lot of information to share.

Mitla Tour - Angel, our tour guide was fantastic. He was one of the very best tour guides we have had, and we have had many. His command of the subject matter was superb and his general knowledge about contemporary Mexico was also great. His English skills were also superb.

Half day tour to Mitla, Tule, Teotitlàn - Fun half day with 3 stops. First stop at Santa Maria del Tule, a cute little town with a huge old tree in the town square. Second stop at a textile workshop and store. Very interesting explanation of the process of indigenous blanket weaving. Third stop at the Mitla architectural ruins. Easy to navigate and very interesting. Finally, buffet lunch with the entire group. Really good Mexican food, especially for a buffet. Our guide, Angel, was well versed and extremely bilingual, friendly and explained everything very well. 100% recommended

1/2 Day Ideal Tour - Our 1/2 day tour was very informative about indigenous history, a great education about the native weaving process, and interesting architectural details about the ruins in the area. Angel provided the perfect amount of information without overwhelming everyone with details. He was very personable with a fun sense of humor. The 1/2 day trip is ideal for those who don’t want a long day of touring.
