I had an amazing day! The... - I had an amazing day! The altitude was challenging, but worth it for the views and the sense of accomplishment. Luis was an excellent guide, who ensured that we were paced appropriately and gave us choices to continue to a third viewpoint or return back to the village. (The third viewpoint is stunning!). I felt very safe and well looked after the entire day. Luis is very knowledgeable about the local fauna and flora. We started the day with an excellent breakfast and finished with a charming late lunch/early dinner. We were safely transported to and from the park.

Amazing hike in Sierra Norte - Luis was a great guide and I felt very safe exploring the forest of Sierra Norte. The views were amazing and we barely saw any other people. Luis is very knowledgeable and ensured that, whilst we were challenged, we weren't forced to do anything we didn't want to do. Would recommend if you want to explore nature around Oaxaca. Plus food stops were great and very safe driver!

Great! - Great experience overall! The views were amazing, the food was great from local restaurants, and the guide Luis was very knowledgeable about local plants and wildlife. I had some great conversations, and he was able to change the difficulty level based on the experience of the group. The hike I did was difficult and very rewarding.

Best experience in Oaxaca - The day begins with a scenic drive up the mountain. Once you reach a certain elevation, the landscape changes from desert into a beautiful lush green forest full of white pine, oak, and rocky outcrops. We made a quick stop for an authentic Mexican breakfast in a small mountain town of about 800 people before we began the hike. Our guide Luis was very attentive and paced the hike to our abilities. Luis was extremely knowledgeable about the wild pants and animals along the hike. The views throughout the hike were stunning and we traversed multiple microclimates, each with their own unique vegetation. The day ends with another stop in the mountain town for a late lunch/early dinner.

An enjoyable day - This was an interesting and enjoyable experience. It was great to see how the communities in this area live. We enjoyed the hike although we did find it slightly challenging and sat out the second part having a nice beer and enjoying the scenery!!

Wonderful hike and botanizing in the Sierra del Norte - This was the highlight of my 10 day visit to Oaxaca city. To be honest I didn't know what to expect and how I would manage since the hike is at around 10,000 ft. I am 74 and in pretty good shape but I live in flat southern New Jersey so while I might get 5 or 6 mile hikes they certainly don't involve steep climbs at high altitude. As others have pointed out, Luis is a great guide and very attentive. We enjoyed a big breakfast at mid morning before the hike and a very welcome late lunch or early dinner afterwards at a couple of little cafes in a small Pueblo. There were 3 of us in our group besides Luis, and we were pretty well matched physically. We covered almost 6 miles with a climb of 1700 ft finishing up by crossing a suspension bridge and climbing a fire tower to enjoy some wonderful views. This is not a "walk in the park" but if you are up for the challenge then you must do it.

Disappointing and not worth the money - We chose this hike as it sounded great in the ratings and comments. But it was a very disappointing experience. It was not clear how long the hike(s) would be and if one or several groups. There was really no explanations along the hike, no information about the villages and their history. The guide seemed immature and only focusing on young guests in the group. Not taking too much into account the diversity of the guests. The pace was fast from the beginning. The program did not inform us that we would be waiting during lunch/dinner for those (the fastest) who wanted to do a final hike. Personally I spent too much time just waiting and when commenting this to the guide he just focused on his own meal. The most positive element was the delicious lunch/dinner cooked by women in the village.

Waste of time and money! - wouldn’t recommend this hike. The tour lasts around 12 hours, but only 3 are spent hiking — the rest is just waiting. It was advertised as a guided experience through nature, but our guide, Luiz, barely said anything except warning us about snakes. He only spoke Spanish with one friend and ignored the rest of us expecting an English tour. He was rude to slower hikers and spoke badly about people over the radio. He acted immature and even refused to say goodbye at the end. Overall, a waste of money. I’d suggest booking with another company or staying in Oaxaca.
