Hakone Ropeway - *Meet at Hakone Yumoto at 7:45 am (it’s recommended to stay near Hakone Yumoto Station the night before the tour). After meeting, take the mountain train at 8:00 am, followed by the Ropeway to the top of Hakone Mountain (1044m high). Experience the sulfur gases from the active volcano and arrive at “Owakudani Valley” to view Mt. Fuji, weather permitting. Try the famous sulfur-boiled black egg, believed to add seven years to your life per egg (JPY 500/4pcs, cash only). Proceed to Togendai North Port at Lake Ashi, a dammed lake formed by a volcanic eruption 3000 years ago.
-
Lake Ashi - *Board a sightseeing “Pirates Ship” on Lake Ashi for 40 minutes. If there are many passengers, consider purchasing a “reserved seat” for JPY 700 per person, if available. Enjoy views of Mt. Fuji, the lush forest surrounding Lake Ashi, and the striking red torii gate of Hakone Shinto Shrine. Have lunch (brown/white noodles - soba/udon - for guest and guide, around JPY 2000 per person).
-
Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu - *Upon arrival at the south port, visit Hakone Shrine by swan-pedal-boat on Lake Ashi (25 min, JPY 1500/4 persons, cash only) to capture memorable photos of the striking red Torii Gate from the boat (no landing). Walking to the Shrine takes about 40 minutes round trip and often involves long queues under the torii gate, so the pedal boat is recommended. The decision can be made on-site.
-
Amasake Tea House - *Take a bus to visit a “400-year-old folk tea house with a thatched roof,” where you can sit around a fired hearth (reservation by Munetaka, 35 min stay) and enjoy “Amazake” (a non-alcoholic, fermented sweet rice drink with no sugar, beneficial for health, for guest and guide, JPY 500 per person, cash only).
-
Hamamatsuya - *Travel by bus to visit a traditional Yosegi-zaiku (marquetry) house, a 200-year-old wooden handcraft establishment, and observe the production process by a 7th generation master (reservation by Munetaka). Enjoy shopping for secret boxes, Kendama play game tools, and more.

Enjoy a 40-minute sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi, visit Hakone Shrine surrounded by 100-year-old cedar trees, and capture photos under the iconic red torii gate. The tour also includes a stop at a 400-year-old tea house, where guests may converse with the 13th generation owner by the hearth (reservation by Munetaka), and a visit to a 200-year-old marquetry craft house to hear from the 7th generation artisan about their craft (reservation by Munetaka).
