SACRED VALLEY - ÑAUPA-IGLESIA - CHILLIPAHUA
Sacred Valley - Guests will be collected from their accommodation in the Sacred Valley using private transportation for a 30-minute drive to the Inca site of Ñaupa Iglesia (Quechua for Ancient Church). This intriguing site features an Inca cross, known as a chacana, expertly carved into a massive rock. From there, the journey continues to the village of Llama Pintayoq, named after the mysterious pre-Inca paintings on a nearby rock, which will be visited. Following this, the trek begins on a wide path heading northward along the west bank of the Huaracondo River. Travelers will cross stunning valleys, mountains, and archaeological ruins to reach the impressive Inca village of Watta, a significant pre-Inca fortress perched at an elevation of 3,855 meters (12,650 feet). After exploring the site, a 30-minute descent on horseback leads to the lunch spot before proceeding to the community of Chillipahua.

CHILLIPAHUA - ANCASCOCHA
Lake Ancascocha - After enjoying a delightful breakfast in the village of Chillipahua, it’s time to bid farewell to its residents and resume the horseback riding adventure to Machu Picchu. The journey involves a gradual climb through potato fields, Inca aqueducts, and native chachacomo trees. The surrounding landscape of pasture fields clinging to steep slopes and red mountains is truly captivating. After passing several traditional highland communities, travelers will reach Accoccasa Pass (4,425 masl/14,500 ft), where a breathtaking view of the surrounding snowy peaks awaits. On the other side of the pass, a flat trail used by indigenous shepherds leads down to Qenqo Mayu Valley. A break from riding allows for a delicious, organic lunch. Soon after, the campsite near Ancascocha Lake (4,150 masl/13,600 ft) is reached, opposite the striking glaciers of the Huaynay mountain range.
ANCASCOCHA - INCA QUARRY - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES
Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo - Following breakfast, the horseback riding journey towards Machu Picchu continues. The route ascends to the Chancachuco Valley, from where a narrow trail descends for about 45 minutes, leading to the enigmatic Intiwatana, the Sun Gate, strategically placed by the Incas for astronomical observations and agricultural planning. The ride continues downhill to Cachicata, crossing the Vilcanota River, and finally arriving at the renowned Sun Temple in Ollantaytambo. There will be time to explore the village and temple before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, guests will check into their hotel for an overnight stay before the exciting day of exploring Machu Picchu.

AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
Machu Picchu - An early start allows for the enjoyment of the sunrise over Machu Picchu, followed by a hearty breakfast and a bus ride to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A guided tour lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours will highlight the Sun Dial (Intihuatana), the Temple of the Condor, and the breathtaking views of the mountains covered by high jungle vegetation surrounding this incredible fortress. After the tour of the archaeological complex, a bus ride back to Aguas Calientes offers time for lunch or last-minute souvenir shopping. Later in the afternoon, the Expedition train will take travelers back to Ollantaytambo, where a private van will transport them to their hotel in the Sacred Valley or Cusco. Although the tour concludes, the memories will last a lifetime!
