An experience like no other… - This was one of the most unique and meaningful tour experiences. I’ve had in many years of travel. Our driver picked us up in.Ollantaytambo and together with a guide, drove us far up into the Andes (the ride was an adventure in itself!) where we met women living in one of the traditional Andean communities. They taught us about their culture, including their agricultural practices and how they share and dye alpaca wool, gave us a weaving demonstration and let us try ourselves (a humbling experience!). They prepared a delicious traditional meal for us of chicken, potatoes, and vegetables, all grown in their self-sustaining community, and treated us like family for the day. The skill and work ethic of these women.was awe-inspiring. The tour itself is managed by a nonprofit group that donates most of the proceeds back to the community as a way for these women to help support their families while their husbands work as porters for tourists traveling on the Inca Trail. We were honored to be received by them, and the experience was unforgettable. I highly recommend this tour and think it’s such a meaningful experience, particularly if it can be shared with women travelers, sisters, mothers, or daughters. to be shared by sisters, mothers and daughters.
