- Omalos - In the early morning, guests will be collected from designated locations around Chania by a luxurious bus, arriving at the starting point of the tour in Omalos Plateau around 7 am. The panoramic view of the gorge from the plateau is a delight for photography enthusiasts. After a brief stop for photos and/or breakfast, guests will board the bus and head to the traditional village of Sougia. There, they will board a boat and sail along the coast of Crete until reaching Agia Roumeli.
- Samaria Gorge National Park - A visit to Crete is incomplete without exploring the second longest gorge in Europe, the Samaria Gorge. It is the longest and most impressive ravine in the Mediterranean, stretching 16.5 kilometers from Xyloskalo to Agia Roumeli at the Libyan Sea. Arrival is around 7 am, and after a short break, the walk begins. Descending the 600 wooden steps, visitors will be captivated by the beauty and tranquility of this vast gorge, overshadowed by the White Mountains. Along the way, they will encounter the church of St. Nicolas, built on the ruins of an ancient temple, and later reach “Portes” or “Iron Gates,” the narrowest pass of the gorge. The hike concludes at Agia Roumeli.

Hike approximately 16 kilometers through dramatic landscapes, towering cliffs, ancient forests, and the renowned narrow passage known as the “Iron Gates.” Along the journey, you may encounter the rare Cretan wild goat (Kri-Kri) and revel in the rich, untamed beauty of Crete’s national park. The hike usually takes between 5 to 7 hours, depending on your pace, and concludes at the tranquil seaside village of Agia Roumeli. Here, enjoy free time to relax, swim in the crystal-clear Libyan Sea, and dine at one of the delightful seaside tavernas.
After rejuvenating by the sea, board the ferry to Sougia, cruising along Crete’s rugged southern coastline. At Sougia, a bus will be ready to comfortably transport you back to Chania after a day filled with adventure and natural splendor.

- Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes for the trek through the gorge
- It is advisable to bring the following items with you: sunscreen, sunglasses and hat
- It is important to stay hydrated, so bring a bottle of water (you can refill it in the gorge’s springs) and a light snack (fruits etc.)
- Υou can swim at Agia Roumeli beach just after you exit the gorge so make you have a swimsuit and beach towel with you
- Τhe entrance fee to Samaria as well as the boat fee are paid with cash on the spot
- Half way down the gorge lies the old village of Samaria, which has a telephone for communication with the police, a pharmacy, and two mules to transport injured persons.
- In the village of Samaria, take a quiet walk around and you may catch a glimpse of the endangered kri‐kri. They are usually very friendly towards people!
